Purpose Statement:
The job of Custodian - Campbell County is done for the purpose/s of maintaining an attractive, sanitary and safe facility for students, staff and public; providing equipment and furniture arrangements for meetings, classroom activities, and events; and minimizing property damage, loss and liability exposure.
Essential Functions
• Arranges furnishings and equipment for the purpose of providing adequate preparations for meetings, classroom activities and special events.
• Cleans assigned school or district facilities (e.g. classrooms, offices, restrooms, multipurpose rooms, corridors, carpets, removes graffiti, windows, walls, restrooms, bleachers, stage, locker rooms, sidewalks, grounds, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a sanitary, safe and attractive environment.
• Distributes supplies and equipment (e.g. fill soap dispensers, towel/toilet paper dispensers, packages, furniture, TV/VCR carts, etc.) for the purpose of disseminating materials to appropriate parties.
• Inspects facility and equipment (e.g. HVAC units, boilers, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that the site is suitable for safe operations, maintained in an attractive and clean condition, and/or identifying/reporting necessary repairs due to vandalism, equipment breakage, weather conditions, etc.
• Maintains coal fired boiler as assigned for the purpose of ensuring boiler is in proper working condition.
• Maintains supplies and equipment (e.g. cleaning solutions, paper products, vacuum, mops, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of items required to properly stock facilities.
• Prepares facility for daily operations as may be required (e.g. opening gates, raising flags, unlocks doors, snow removal, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring facilities are operational and safe for occupancy.
• Provides training and direction to community service workers and school service students for the purpose of ensuring functions are performed thoroughly and effectively.
• Responds to immediate safety and/or operational concerns (e.g. facility damage, unauthorized persons, alarms, etc.) for the purpose of taking appropriate action to resolve immediate safety issues and maintaining a functioning educational environment.
• Secures facilities and grounds (e.g. lock doors, turn off lights, sets alarm, etc.) for the purpose of minimizing property damage, equipment loss and potential liability to the district. Other Functions
• Assists in snow removal as assigned for the purpose of maintaining a safe environment.
• Assists other personnel, as may be required, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment. Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications
SKILLS are required to perform multiple, non-technical tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating equipment used in industrial maintenance, common tools, etc., and adhering to safety practices.
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; understand written procedures, write routine documents, and speak clearly; and understand multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job includes: methods of industrial cleaning; safety practices and procedures; basic tools for minor repairs; confined space entry; and coal fired boiler maintenance.

Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing specific, defined processes; and operate equipment using a variety of standardized methods. Working Environment

Job Summary:
As a member of the BGIS Sustainable Cleaning Solutions Team, you will be generally responsible for cleaning in a designated zone with an emphasis on quality control, health and safety & striving to exceed client expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
Functioning as a core member of the operational team and reporting to the Manager/ Supervisor as a Cleaner you may be required to perform some of the following tasks as required by the Manager/Supervisor and needs of the client:
Clean floors by sweeping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
Dry/wet mop (wash/scrub) and polish hard surface floors. (The washing/scrubbing of floors is done with handheld or auto scrubbers. In large open applications, automatic equipment may be used to perform these functions)
Strip and finish hard surface floors manually or with power equipment (when required).
Steam clean or shampoo carpets (when required).
Transport garbage from drop points to garbage bins or compactor.
Transport maintenance machinery, where necessary, between floors and job sites.
Cleans and stores equipment and machinery used.
Cleans glass areas requiring ladders, scaffolding or other extension equipment to reach.
Cleans washroom floors including stripping and finishing.
Cleans stairwells and elevator cabs where ladders are required.
Loads and unloads supplies and replenishes cleaning solutions.
Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
Other duties that management may assign.
Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
Remove snow and debris from sidewalks, driveways, or parking areas, using snowplows, snow blowers, or snow shovels, or spread snow melting chemicals (when required).
Job Requirements:
Experience in performing various cleaning, housekeeping and maintenance activities in an institutionalized environment.
Experience in using floor maintenance machines, cleaning equipment, materials, and solutions.
Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the provisions that apply to this work including WHMIS.

Summer Custodian
Janitor Job In Casper, WY
The Custodian I position performs general custodial duties for Casper College buildings and facilities; performs additional tasks as directed.
effective May-August, 2025.
Responsibilities:
The position of Custodian I is responsible for performing a variety of tasks in an effort to create and maintain a clean and sanitary environment inside the designated building(s) and/or floor(s) of the given areas of responsibility. The Position provides limited security within the building(s) assigned to clean, assists in setting up and taking down for special events and performs additional tasks as directed by their Custodial Crew Leader or designee.
Essential Duties
Sweep, mop, and polish floors, vacuum and assist with cleaning and shampooing of carpets.
Wash walls, partitions, ceilings, white boards, brick tile and other room coverings; dust, wash and polish furniture and wood work.
Clean and sanitize washrooms, toilets, showers and polishes metal parts; wash interior and exterior windows, mirrors and other glass.
Empty wastebaskets, remove heavy rubbish to exterior dumpsters and pick-up points.
Remove snow and debris from outside of entries.
Write requisitions for cleaning supplies; receive and arrange storage of cleaning supplies.
Operate heavy electric motor driven cleaning equipment.
Perform light maintenance duties (i.e. Changing light-bulbs).
Move furniture/equipment in rooms and buildings; assist with event set-up and take down.
Carry and respond to College provided cell phone; carry and utilize a two-way radio while working.
Report concerns, hazardous conditions, and injuries/ accidents to supervisor or designee.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Ability to perform general cleaning duties
Able and willing to perform physical labor for full shift (8 hours)
Able and willing to perform physical labor for more than a full shift (more than 8 hours)
Able to follow relevant policies, procedures, instructions and safety standards; work safely with cleaning equipment and materials
Ability to maintain a professional, effective and collegial working relationship with co-workers, the public and all campus constituent groups
Ability to effectively organize and prioritize assigned work.
Supplemental Information
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to cleaning chemicals, fumes, odors, dust, wet/slick floors and exposure to body fluids. The employee occasionally works at heights and works with and around machinery with moving parts. The use of cleaning equipment will be required (i.e. brooms, vacuums, mops, etc.), along with use of other tools to perform the duties of the job (i.e. ladders). The majority of the time will be spent indoors in a climate-controlled environment, but occasionally various weather conditions will be encountered while traveling between buildings and when cleaning and removing snow from entries. The noise level in the work environment is typically at a normal level, but occasionally moderate to high levels of noise requiring hearing protection will be encountered during certain activities (i.e. vacuuming, floor polishing, etc.). May be called back after hours, on weekends, and holidays for emergencies, special assignments, snow removal and/or any other activity which requires the position's presence on campus and/or at the assigned work station. Call back assignments are at the discretion of their Crew Leader or Assistant Facility Operations Director.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of the job, the employee is normally required to stand and/or walk for long periods of time, climb or balance; stoop; kneel; crouch or crawl; use hands and arms, sit and talk; or hear. The position requires the ability to carry supplies, move furniture and equipment, and work on ladders. Frequent lifting/moving of up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with or without assistance may be expected. Work duties require a high level of physical exertion for the duration of the work shift. Specific vision abilities required by this job include those needed to operate equipment, close vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
