    We are seeking full time custodians for the 3pm to 11pm shift. This non-exempt position involves general cleaning duties and equipment operation such as vacuuming carpet, stripping, sealing and waxing floors, cleaning restrooms and collecting trash. Emphasis is placed on both independent and group work effort, judicial use of time, thoroughness and occasional assistance to the general public. Most duties are performed in assigned areas under general supervision with the employee accomplishing the tasks independently. Performance is reviewed by daily observation and occasional inspection. This is a non-exempt position in the Facilities Maintenance Department. The Custodian reports to the Custodial Supervisor. Essential Job Functions Operating all required electrical and non-electrical cleaning equipment to routinely clean, strip, and reseal hard surface and carpeted floors. Select and utilize cleaning chemicals in proper quantities and applications to perform assigned cleaning tasks. Perform routine cleaning of common areas, public restrooms, escalators/elevators/stairs, aircraft loading bridges, and administrative offices. Collect and dispose of trash in compacting dumpsters. Assist with snow removal from the terminal building sidewalks, doorways, and walkways, as necessary. Replace damaged or worn carpet tiles. Assist airport patrons by answering questions and directing them to emergency shelters. Communicate, using company radio equipment, essential information to appropriate parties adhering to established protocols. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required High school diploma or GED certificate with ability to read and write. Professional communication on company-provided radio. Ability to read and understand task procedures; instructional information regarding the proper operation of equipment; and labels describing chemical products, their usage, limitations, and warnings. Physical requirements include the ability to lift and move objects, such as furniture, boxes, cleaning supplies, and trash bags (typically up to 25 pounds or more). Must be able to stand, kneel, and walk for extended periods while performing cleaning tasks. Pushing heavy cleaning carts or equipment like vacuum cleaners and floor polishers.
