POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Groundwork- Raises and lowers flag as necessary. Assists in snow removal by operating snow blowers, shovels snow, sands, or salts. Operates grass mowers, trims grass and hedges. Litter cleanup.
Loads and unloads stores, school equipment and supplies. Removes trash and garbage from building to outside waste containers and cleans same.
Loads and unloads hot lunch totes.
Operates and cleans boilers and heating/ventilating equipment, as well as minor repair work.

This position will work Tuesday - Thursday: 3:00 - 11:30 pm Friday: 12:30 pm - 9:00 pm Saturday: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm Terms of employment are per bargaining agreement between SCC Board of Trustees and the SCCESA , employment contract and relevant policies of the Board of Trustees and College.
Physical Demands
Must have the ability and mobility (constant standing and walking) to perform assigned duties throughout a large campus and college district. While performing job duties, the employee will be required to twist, stoop/bend, squat, kneel, crawl, climb ladders, climb stairs, lift/carry, and push/pull on a frequent basis. In addition, the employee will actively promote a positive image for the college district.

Qualifications and Experience: Education: High School diploma/equivalent required. Experience: Minimum of one year of compatible work experience required. Knowledge of: - General cleaning and housekeeping procedures. - Work and safety regulations. Ability to: - Work without close supervision and independently. - Be a self-starter, including conducting duties relevant to routine responsibilities and assigned tasks. - Follow directions - Accomplish tasks in an efficient and timely manner including cleanup. - Operate the following listed equipment: Forklift Lawn mowers Buffer and related cleaning/floor equipment Hand tools and small power tools Snow removal equipment (snow plow trucks, tractor with front loader, snow blower) - Work effectively, cooperatively, and cordially with people of diverse background and needs. - Maintain a professional, courteous, and positive demeanor while effectively dealing with varied and stressful situations. - To work in a strong service environment that is subject to constantly changing priorities. - Lift/carry heavy items (50 or more pounds). - To twist, stoop/bend, squat, kneel, crawl, climb ladders, climb stairs, lift/carry and push/pull, on a frequent basis. Job Tasks Descriptions
1. Clean areas of the building such as classrooms, offices, student and staff bathrooms, stairwells, cafeteria, hallways, library, etc., using proper cleaning practices and procedures and using custodial equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Remove trash from the building and from outside trash containers and place into the dumpster.
2. Demonstrate effective communication (verbally and written) with the principal, teaching staff, custodial staff and community members.
3. Assist in set-ups and breakdowns for sporting, special events, and meetings. Locking/unlocking areas for access, and provide customer support.
4. Report to Director of Building and Grounds regarding safety issues, custodial supply and equipment needs. Monitor buildings lighting, plumbing, electrical and mechanical systems (boilers, uni-vents, etc) and repair/report issues.
5. Complete annual online training courses.
6. Secure the building. Lock classroom and office doors, close windows and turn off lights. Check and lock exterior doors by walking the perimeter of the building and set security alarm.
7. Remove snow and ice from areas around the building not accessible by snow plows. Perform seasonal projects as needed.
8. Participate in deep cleaning of building summer, seasonal, and project cleaning schedules as assigned.
9. Participate in crisis management plan for assigned school, as directed by the principal.
10. Perform other duties as assigned.
