Job Summary
The Criminal Investigator will be responsible for conducting investigations related to criminal activity, policy violations, and other incidents that impact the Georgia Gwinnett College community. The purpose of this position is to serve as the police department's civilian crime scene investigator. This position reports to the Technology Unit Sergeant. Pay Range:
This posting is for a position covered by the Service Contract Labor Standards (SCA). The pay and benefits provided for this position will meet or exceed the minimum required amounts detailed in the wage determination issued by the Department of Labor and made applicable to this position, as incorporated into CACI's government contract for the work location.

G ENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The purpose of this position is to serve as the police department's civilian crime scene investigator. This position reports to the Technology Unit Sergeant. This individual is responsible for collecting and processing evidence at crime scenes and in a laboratory environment, examining fingerprints, taking photographs, and performing digital forensic examinations of data stored on electronic devices. Maintains knowledge of current technology and best practices to extract digital data and ensures the preservation of evidence.
This position is funded through a grant from the Governor's Office of Planning and Budget (OPB). The successful candidate will play a crucial role in achieving the objectives outlined in the grant proposal, ensuring compliance with all grant requirements and deliverables.
S CHEDULE:
The Unit schedule is currently 10-hour days, covering Monday through Friday. The Unit works a staggered schedule with shifts assigned by seniority. This is an on-call position with a rotating on-call schedule. Employees must be willing and available to work nights, holidays, and weekends as necessary to support department operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES INCLUDE:
Responds to crime scenes to secure scene boundaries and gather evidence.
Photographs and documents crime scenes; takes notes regarding observation and actions at crime scene.
Takes measurements and makes diagrams of scene and evidence.
Processes scene with appropriate powders, chemicals, and tapes to collect fingerprints; utilizes chemicals to test for the presence of blood.
