JOB DUTIES:

Job Summary
The Criminal Investigator will be responsible for conducting investigations related to criminal activity, policy violations, and other incidents that impact the Georgia Gwinnett College community. This position requires the ability to gather and analyze evidence, interview witnesses, conduct criminal investigations, prepare reports, and collaborate with other law enforcement agencies as needed. The individual must be Georgia POST certified at the time of hire, with continued training to develop skills in criminal investigations and law enforcement. G ENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The purpose of this position is to serve as the police department's civilian crime scene investigator. This position reports to the Technology Unit Sergeant. This individual is responsible for collecting and processing evidence at crime scenes and in a laboratory environment, examining fingerprints, taking photographs, and performing digital forensic examinations of data stored on electronic devices. Maintains knowledge of current technology and best practices to extract digital data and ensures the preservation of evidence.
This position is funded through a grant from the Governor's Office of Planning and Budget (OPB). The successful candidate will play a crucial role in achieving the objectives outlined in the grant proposal, ensuring compliance with all grant requirements and deliverables.
S CHEDULE:
The Unit schedule is currently 10-hour days, covering Monday through Friday. The Unit works a staggered schedule with shifts assigned by seniority. This is an on-call position with a rotating on-call schedule. Employees must be willing and available to work nights, holidays, and weekends as necessary to support department operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES INCLUDE:
Responds to crime scenes to secure scene boundaries and gather evidence.

SCHEDULE:
