ABC House is looking for a Family Advocate Intern to join our Assessment team. This internship is in-person and will last for the duration of your university's internship program. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children and is enrolled in an undergraduate program in a field related to social work. Our internship program provides an opportunity for students to gain experience working with children and families through a trauma lens and a direct application of advocacy services. The goal of advocacy services is to minimize trauma from the assessment process on both the child and family and help ensure that their service needs are met. In addition, the intern will work with a team of professionals including child abuse medical providers, forensic interviewers, advocates, Oregon Department of Human Services, and law enforcement.
Principal duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Provide on-site family support and referral services for clients and their family members
- Prepare intake paperwork and resource material for client and caregivers.
- Orient family on appointment process and assist in completion of paperwork, including Crimes Victims' Compensation application.
- Provide support to family during the appointment, including identifying needs and making service referrals as needed.
Assist with data tracking and other clerical/administrative duties.
Provide outreach and follow-up support services to clients and their families.
Qualifications and skills required:
- Enrolled in undergraduate degree program in Human Services or a field related to human services.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including a warm and approachable demeanor.
- Ability to build rapport with children and adults potentially impacted by trauma.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite and database programs.
- Licensed, insured driver with access to reliable transportation.
- Ability to successfully complete a criminal background check and child abuse registry check.

Department Summary
Early Childhood CARES provides early intervention and early childhood special education services to infants, toddlers, and preschool children in Lane County. Over 1700 children who have developmental delays or disabilities are served each year.
Early Childhood CARES services include parent consultation, parent-toddler groups, specialized preschools, consultation with children in community preschools or childcare, and speech, physical or occupational therapy.

Position Summary
The Office Specialist 2 (OS2) position provides administrative support to the Early Childhood CARES program. EI/ECSE programs have complex, strict Federal and State laws governing all program aspects. This position reviews Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) documentation and evaluation files for completeness and legal compliance as well as providing support to the Records Manager with student files. This position will also serve as the McKinney-Vento liason for all EI/ECSE students enrolled at Early Childhood CARES and is responsible for coordinating School District transportation for eligible students receiving EI/ECSE services including cancellation notifications to support classroom closures.
This position is supervised by the Early Childhood CARES Business Manager. The Office Specialist 2 interacts daily with academic and administrative staff and subcontractors by telephone, email and in person regarding Early Childhood CARES Services. This position will have multiple deadlines and experience regular interruptions. The successful candidate will be professional, friendly and must maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Work Schedule: M-F, 7:00 am start to 4:00 pm to support transportation needs of the agency.
Minimum Requirements
• Two years of general clerical experience. One year of which included typing, word processing, or other experience generating documents; OR
• An Associate's degree in Office Occupations or Office Technology; OR
• Graduation from a private school of business with a Certificate in Office Occupations or Office Technology and one year of general clerical experience.
College courses in Office Occupations or Office Technology will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

This internship will provide experience in the context of professional communications and marketing in an Extension Service/land grant university.

Position Duties
An Extension Communications Student Intern:
* Creates digital content - marketing templates, social content, basic multimedia
* Works with professionals to develop Extension educational, public information and/or marketing materials.
* Participates in meetings where communication projects and strategies are identified and prioritized, and production/implementation plans are developed.
* Contributes to all phases of content development, including gathering information, drafting, review, publication and evaluation. This involves effective communication with both professional communications and marketing colleagues as well as Extension subject-matter experts.
* In collaboration with the Extension internship program coordinator, supports the OSU Extension Internship blog, including editing, posting and promoting content developed by fellow interns.
* As appropriate, provides advice, consultation or training in an area of communications expertise to student peers, colleagues or Extension employees.
* Seeks information from mentors and colleagues regarding the history, purpose and mission of the Oregon State University Extension Service and its communications unit.
* May identify and develop a new process, template or tool that could be implemented within the unit's current operations. This contribution should provide a substantial addition to the intern's resume as practical and applicable work experience.
* Participates in OSU Extension Intern cohort activities, including orientations, check-ins and professional development opportunities.
* Maintains a log, blog or journal, as outlined by the OSU Extension Internship Coordinator, documenting internship experiences to complete the required record of internship. Completes and submits record of internship at the conclusion of the internship.

* Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment

We focus on producing premium Pinot Noir, and Chardonnay from our 140-acre vineyard in Monroe, which is about 20 mins from both Corvallis and Eugene.
