Introduction
The mental health system is overrun by corporate interests prioritizing profit over quality care. Non-clinical leaders in large clinics lack understanding of effective therapy, leaving clinicians overworked, undervalued, and without autonomy. The focus on unchecked growth sacrifices quality, discouraging excellence and collaboration. Without meaningful change, careers and the field risk collapse.
Lorenz Clinic has some of the best clinicians in Minnesota, so we know what it takes to sustain clinicians and do quality work. First, Lorenz gives you time- paid burnout time, consultation time, paid time off, paid holidays, paid CEU time, paid service day, up to twelve weeks paid parental leave, and so on. Next, Lorenz give you autonomy, choice, and control over your workload. Then Lorenz ensures sufficient social rewards of doing a job well done, including a sense of community and identity built around our selectivity in hiring. Our selectiveness is how you know you'll be surrounded by smart people and solid, inspiring therapists. Finally, our workplace is marked by a dedication to fairness and internal equity, and our core values are driven by quality therapy, not silly business interests.
Make a difference on Main Street, not Wall Street. Apply with us and contribute to something real. Something clinician-led and a place where you and your colleagues will have each other over a long, sustainable career. Join us, and never give up
hope for what mental healthcare could be.
About Lorenz Clinic
Lorenz is on a mission to heal the world one relationship at a time- To be the best clinic in Minnesota, not the biggest. We've fast become a regional leader in clinical services and training, our novel approach to clinician development often emulated by other practices. The clinic was the first Family Psychology specialty clinic in the North and was the first clinic in Minnesota to develop organized Post-Master's Fellowships. It is recognized by many as one of the best post-degree training programs in Minnesota for clinicians looking to employ systemic, relational therapies. Compared to other large clinics regionally, Lorenz has the highest standards and ideals for clinicians and is the most selective in its hiring.
Our people have diverse backgrounds and experiences. We welcome an ever-changing, increasingly diverse group of applicants. Clinicians and trainees most often want to be here more than anywhere else because of how inspiring our high ideals are. Although training isn't all we do, the training center is the font of vitality to the institution at large. We are growing, evolving, and changing on a daily basis.
We think big but act small, locally. Thirty years from now, Lorenz Clinic aspires to become one of the leading family institutes in the country, having gone from a microscopic mom and pop shop at someone's dining room table to one of the premier family institutes in the world. The people that pass through Lorenz will continue to be the movers and shakers in the field, leaders that infuse systems thinking and relational, reflective practice into the mental health field for generations to come. We hope that our contributions to the specialty will be deep and lasting. Our hope is that people will always take great pride in being part of an organization that, for decades, has served a progressive leader in strengthening and healing relationships of all kinds. Through an integrated approach that involves research, training, and the service of others through therapy, Lorenz will deliver superior results and distinctive impact with lasting endurance for the children, adults, families, and couples of Minnesota.
About Our Day Treatment
Our Early Childhood Day Treatment Program is designed to support children ages 3-7 with a diagnosis of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Utilizing the Developmental Repair model, our program provides a structured, therapeutic environment where children can heal, grow, and build the foundational skills necessary for emotional and relational well-being.
Trauma in early childhood profoundly impacts a child's ability to regulate emotions, form secure relationships, and navigate everyday challenges. Our program directly addresses these needs by fostering safe, trusting connections between children and caregivers, helping them repair developmental disruptions caused by trauma. The Developmental Repair model focuses on meeting children where they are developmentally, recognizing the interplay between emotional, relational, and behavioral challenges.
Key components of the program include:
Individualized Treatment Plans: Tailored to each child's needs, strengths, and trauma history, ensuring targeted and effective intervention.
Therapeutic Play and Activities: Facilitated by trained therapists to promote emotional expression, problem-solving, and social skills development.
Caregiver Involvement: Regular family therapy sessions and caregiver education to enhance attachment and support healing within the child's primary relationships.
Multidisciplinary Collaboration: A team of mental health professionals, including therapists, case managers, and consultants, works together to provide holistic care.
Group sessions are held Monday through Thursday in a supportive and nurturing environment designed to minimize overstimulation and foster a sense of safety. Small group sizes allow for individualized attention and peer interaction that promotes social learning.
Our goal is to help children develop the emotional regulation, relational trust, and resilience necessary to thrive at home, in school, and in the community, laying the foundation for lifelong mental health and success.
About the Role
Psychotherapists at Lorenz function in applied roles, delivering assessment and intervention to clients of all types. Clinicians are free to function within their own areas of competence, specialty, or expertise. Our clinics are embedded on Main Street in communities with traditionally stark access disparities. Our client census is 43% Medicaid, and we have a sliding fee schedule that goes to zero. Our no-show rate is under 10%. We maintain a rich consultation and continued professional development schedule, as they are key to our committee-run, evidence-based Wellness Roadmap. 95% of our clinicians say they would recommend our practice to their colleagues, the chief benefit cited is the quality of the people. We administer confidential, third-party employee engagement surveys via Gallup, and the best employee feedback in 2024-25 has been:
“We have the best people… the best therapists and the best humans.” -Senior Clinician
“I could make a mistake.” -Practicum Student
“I knew I'd get through it because of the support.” -Post-Master's Fellow
“I have my life back.” -New Hire
“Such a cohesive group.” -Clinical Manager
“This is my therapy home… my forever job.” -Senior Clinician
