* Serves civil papers and warrants by locating recipient either at residence or place of employment, tracing missing persons, sending papers to proper agency for serving, making arrests, collecting fines and transporting persons to jail when necessary.
* Provides security for the courthouse by preparing courtroom for trials and jury selection, securing evidence when necessary, responding to problems that occur, making necessary arrests and maintaining security during trials.
* Assists other agencies by responding to emergencies when fire or police personnel are in danger, responding to calls for help from other agencies and providing funeral escorts.
* Provides general law enforcement by responding to complaint calls, performing general patrol duties, enforcing traffic laws when necessary, testifying in court and working cases as assigned.
* Performs related work as required.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent supplemented by specialized courses/training.
* Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history.
* Requires Intermediate Texas Peace Officer's license.
* Requires Civil Process Proficiency Certification.

Pretrial Officer: Supervision Unit
Intelligence Analyst Job In Georgetown, TX
Reporting directly to a Pretrial Manager, responsible for interviewing and evaluating arrestees charged with criminal offenses, providing bail reports to judicial officers, and determining indigent status for court appointed attorneys. Provides post-release supervision and/or monitoring of defendants pursuant to court order and addresses alleged violations of terms and conditions of release.
May be assigned to either the Defendant Screening Unit or the Post Release Supervision Unit. Position is cross trained between units to provide coverage for essential duties 7 days per week.
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED
Defendant Screening Unit
* Conducts interviews and gathers financial information to determine indigence status for eligibility for court appointed counsel
* As designee of the Court, appoints counsel to eligible defendants based on local Texas Indigent Defense Commission (TIDC) plan and disseminates appointment orders to pertinent stakeholders
* Utilizes computer terminal connected to the Texas and National Crime Information Center to obtain criminal history information
* Serves as intermediary between judges and attorneys on questions concerning attorney appointments and bond compliance
* Informs and briefs law enforcement, jail personnel, family and friends of arrestees, lawyers and others regarding arrestee's bail and/or status related to requested court appointed counsel
* Appears in Court when required and serves as Pretrial Services' representative at magistration, District Court, and County Courts at Law
* Completes additional screenings on individuals not released on bail to facilitate re-consideration by judicial officers
* Responds to requests from court for in court drug screenings, obtains urine samples from defendants and reports results to judicial officers
* Conducts interview and risk assessment screening of individuals to assist court in determining requirements of bail
* Verifies the accuracy of gathered information through contact with references
* Prepares Bail Report containing the terms and conditions of release that are recommended to be applied to individual defendants, and presents Report to judicial officer for bail decision
* May provide testimony in Court
* Attends all meetings and trainings, as required
* Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Post Release Supervision Unit
* Provides post-release monitoring of defendant compliance with judicially ordered terms and conditions of release and takes appropriate action to facilitate compliance
* Monitors, tracks, and assists the court with ensuring defendants' compliance with all conditions of pretrial release which may include, without limitation, drug/alcohol testing, location monitoring, refraining from contact with an alleged victim and timely reports defendants' non-compliance with conditions to the court
* Executes pretrial contracts and other required documents
* Ensures documentation generated or compiled in connection with pretrial services programs are maintained in accordance with department procedures
* Investigates alleged violations of terms and conditions of release and takes appropriate action in response
* Responsible for overall case management of defendants in the pretrial services program; administers the case management software and ensures information entered is accurate and up to date
* Prepares and presents reports to judicial officer, as required, related to defendant's post-release status and compliance
* Conducts other post-release assessments, as necessary, in order to address specific defendant needs related to pretrial success, including but not limited to substance abuse, psychosocial, and educational services
* Serves as the local GPS vendor and completes device installation, maintenance, and removal and assists with device inventory
* Responds to requests from court for in court drug screenings, obtains urine samples from defendants and reports results to judicial officers
* Acquires and maintains criminal history information and other personal information, verifies defendant information related to residence, contact information and employment status
* Enters invoices for pretrial services expenditures, maintains fee schedules and ledgers relating to fees collected from defendants, and handles those funds in compliance with existing County and Departmental policies and procedures
* Reviews alcohol monitoring reports and notifies the Courts if a hearing needs to be set
* Reviews magistrate packets for individuals who were ordered to Pretrial and verifies the defendant is still in custody
* Assists the screening unit with conducting interviews at Magistrate Court on weekends and holidays, as needed
* Handles County Court at Law caseloads
* Attends all meetings and trainings, as required

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:
Receives direct supervision from Police Sergeant/Lieutenant.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Must be able to pass testing and obtain certifications with the ASP baton, firearms, Taser, emergency vehicle operations, and pepper spray if not certified at the time of employment with the Copperas Cove Police Department.
Works a uniformed shift in the performance of security patrols, traffic control, investigation and first aid at accidents, detection, investigation, restraint and arrest of persons involved in crimes or misconduct.
Works an assigned shift using own judgment in deciding course of action being expected to handle difficult and emergency and non-emergency situations without assistance.
Maintains normal availability by radio or telephone for consultation on major emergencies or precedent.
Carries out duties in conformance with Federal, State, County, and City laws and ordinances.
Patrols City streets, parks, commercial and residential areas to preserve the peace and enforce the law, control vehicular traffic, prevent or detect and investigate misconduct involving misdemeanors, felonies, and other law violations and to otherwise serve and protect. Conducts patrol activities including directing traffic and investigation of reported or observed violations of law.
Responds to calls for assistance and investigates accidents, robberies, civil disturbances, domestic disputes, fights, drunkenness, missing children, prowlers, abuse of drugs, and other crimes. Takes appropriate law enforcement action.
Conducts traffic stops to ensure driver safety and enforcement of Federal, State, County, and City laws and ordinances.
Interrogates and interviews suspects, witnesses and drivers. Preserves evidence. Arrests violators. Investigates and renders assistance at scene of vehicular accidents. Summons other law enforcement officers and vehicles. Takes measurements and draws diagrams of scene.
Conducts investigations of crimes. Seeks out and interviews victims, witnesses and suspects, searches crimes scene, develops leads and tips. Analyzes and evaluates evidence and arrests offenders. Attends autopsies as assigned or required.
Renders basic first aid and summons ambulances or other emergency services to scenes.

Trains new police officers in accordance with State law and Department policy.
Maintains communication and coordination with other officers, other City personnel, other law enforcement agencies and prosecutors as needed and assigned. Maintains contact with general public and court officials in the performance of police operating activities.
Works in partnership with the District and County Attorney's office to file criminal complaints on arrested subjects.
Searches prisoners and transports suspects to jail and juvenile probation office and detention centers; transport prisoners to and from medical facilities and mentally ill persons to and from mental health facilities; performs jail duties such as booking, arraigning, feeding and overall supervision of prisoners.
Participates in continuous training to enhance law enforcement skills including firearms proficiency, defensive driving skills, apprehension and arrest techniques, investigative skills, and general law enforcement skills.
Participates in special assignments including but not limited to, Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), Crisis Negotiations Team (CNT), Traffic Enforcement Officer, Mental Health Officer, School Resource Officer (SRO), Field Training Officer (FTO), Honor Guard Team, Intoxilyzer Operator, Detective, and related assignments; provides guidance and training to Law Enforcement Explorer Program (LEEP) participants.
Conducts special investigations as assigned by supervisors. Provides information to victims/survivors on referrals and police report-investigation status.
Locate and neutralize the threat of vicious animals. Responsible for preparation of various lesson plans, memos, letters, and reports.
Participates in continuous training to enhance law enforcement skills including firearms proficiency, defensive driving skills, apprehension and arrest techniques, investigative skills, and general law enforcement skills. Attend and conduct classes, training, and labs. Mentors students, gives speeches and presentations to students and public meetings. Pass testing for certifications and other applicable training.
Gathers and disseminates information and intelligence. Responsible for conducting background investigations. Assists other agencies and divisions of this Department in executing search or arrest warrants and conducts surveillance operations as required.
Cleans and maintains Departmental equipment, supplies, and facilities. Ability to perform related duties and responsibilities as required.

DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be 21 years or older at the time of employment.
Must possess, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid Texas driver's license without record of suspension or revocation in any State.
No felony convictions or any offense involving family violence. No conviction above of a class C misdemeanor within the last 10 years.
U.S. citizen, must be able to read and write the English language.
High school diploma or G.E.D. with twelve (12) hours of college courses or two (2) years active duty with honorable discharge.

Work closely with individual clients to analyze loss exposures caused by both policies and practices (present and not present), educate clients, and develop tailored plans for reducing or eliminating those exposures
Provide technical support to client base, as requested by clients or IRCM management
Lead special projects and programs related to loss prevention and awareness
Support the selection of incentives and other program-based recognition awards
Conduct and disseminate research to support client loss prevention needs
Assist IRCM's claims departments as needed with loss investigations and follow-up
Review loss histories to investigate and report on ways of reducing client losses
Schedule all loss prevention delivery services with clients
Work safely at all times, serving as a role model for clients and employees
Assist the Loss Prevention Manager, as needed, with internal meeting coordination and agendas
Review all activities relating to the public, members, and companies to avoid issues involving potential errors and omissions
Participate in seminars and other training to maintain required licenses and for knowledge and skill development
