The Metropolitan Water District's Water System Operations Group has one opening for Instrumentation & Control Technician I located at the Jensen Treatment Facility (Granada Hills, CA).
This recruitment will be used to build an Eligibility List. This list will be valid for 6 months from the date a candidate accepts the position.
As an Instrumentation and Control (I&C) Technician I, you will develop proficiency and assist journey-level technicians with a wide variety of I&C tasks. These tasks include the installation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electronic equipment such as pressure transducers, flowmeters, position transmitters, level sensors, motor-operated valves, power supplies, workstation displays, signal indicators, wireless data links, local-area network distribution, wide-area network data terminals, life safety equipment, gaseous ambient leak detection systems, voice-over-IP telephone systems, supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems, programmable logic controllers, public address systems, audio-visual presentation systems, safety monitoring and alarm annunciation equipment, security surveillance systems, and energy management devices.
In this role, you also assist and perform the installation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of regulatory instrumentation including turbidimeters, chlorine analyzers, ammonia analyzers, particle counters, pH analyzers, temperature sensors, ozone residual/concentration analyzers, dissolved oxygen analyzers, conductivity probes, and other water-constituent monitoring systems. Tasks are carried out both in a treatment plant environment and in District distribution facilities throughout the MWD service area. This position will perform other related job duties as required.

Under the direction of the Wastewater Electrical Supervisor, the Instrumentation & Control Technician Senior is responsible for performing skilled maintenance and repair tasks, as well as planning and coordinating maintenance projects with plant staff and other city employees
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Develop, plan, coordinate, and lead the corrective and preventive maintenance,
installation, and construction of complex process control, communication, electrical, electro-pneumatic, and instrumentation equipment
Participate in the planning, scheduling, development, and implementation of capital improvements and maintenance software tools such as a Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
Leads and assign the daily work of lower-level instrumentation technicians within the WastewaterDivision
Participates in the development, design, implementation, operation and maintenance of the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system and lift station telemetry systems.
Provides recommendations to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness of wastewater treatment plant processes and future plant capital improvement projects.
Maintains knowledge of current and emerging technologies and makes recommendations for integration and implementation.
Maintain and order inventory of equipment, tools, supplies, and replacement parts.
Troubleshoot equipment and/or system failures and develop corrective action.
Maintain treatment plant equipment and employee safety equipment such as confined space entry equipment.
Remove, repair, and replace electrical motors and associated appurtenances within the wastewater treatment plant, and wastewater lift stations
Identify and troubleshoot technical issues with treatment plant equipment in accordance with plan specifications, operation and maintenance manuals and other applicable documentation
Perform calibration of gas detection system, chemical tanks, sensors, meters. gauges, and laboratory equipment
Develop documentation of as-built system including operation and maintenance manuals
Develop data for use in analytical reports. Support analysis required to evaluate optimized operation, permit requirements and other related analysis
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:
This classification is distinguished from the Instrumentation & Control Technician in that it provides lead level work direction, work review and training to other technicians, and performs the most complex troubleshooting, repair and upgrade activities.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED/SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Serves as lead worker assigning and monitoring the work of others. Receives general supervision from the Plant Electrical Supervisor on routine items which are performed according to established standards and procedures and receives specific work instruction regarding non-routine matters and deadlines.
WORK SCHEDULE: The Wastewater Maintenance work week is Monday through Thursday 6:00 am to 4:30 pm. Depending on the work assignment staff may be assigned to shifts that are outside the standard City work hours. In addition, this position is required to be available to work additional hours in response to peaks in workloads and changes in department needs and perform on-call (standby) duties. This position is governed by the overtime provisions of the federal Fair Labor Standards Act and is eligible for overtime pay.
Essential Functions
This class specification represents only the core areas of responsibilities; specific position assignments will vary depending on the needs of the Department.
Develops, plans, coordinates, and leads the corrective and preventive maintenance, installation, and replacement of complex process control, communication, electrical (e.g., circuits, transformers, switches, control panels), electro-pneumatic, and instrumentation equipment.
Provides oversight, training and assistance to assigned staff; provides activity review, feedback and technical direction related to area of assignment.
Coordinates with other groups within the Wastewater Divsion, contractors, consultants and other outside agencies

Minimum Qualifications
The following are the minimum qualifications necessary for entry into the classification:
EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or GED
Journey-level technical training in electronics, instrumentation and controls, and electricity is desired.
EXPERIENCE:
Four (4) years of journey-level experience in the corrective and preventive maintenance, installation, and construction of complex process control, communication, electrical, electro-pneumatic, and instrumentation equipment
LICENSES/CERTIFICATES:
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid class C California driver's license.
California Water Environment Association (CWEA) Grade I Electrical Instrumentation Technician Certification within eighteen (18) months.
Cradlepoint Certified Network Associate Certification is desired

The Metropolitan Water District's Water System Operations Group has one opening for Instrumentation & Control Technician II located at the Jensen Treatment Facility (Granada Hills, CA).
This recruitment will be used to build an Eligibility List. This list will be valid for 6 months from the date a candidate accepts the position.
As an Instrumentation & Control Technician II you will assist journey level technicians on projects, special assignments, and equipment and system modifications. You will assist in performing routine maintenance, installations, modifications, component-level troubleshooting and repair, and laboratory and field technical analysis of electronic instrumentation and complex digital and analog systems.
Systems include: Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, electronic/electrical equipment consisting of control panels, pressure transducers, acoustic and magnetic flow meters, electrically actuated control valves, tank level monitoring systems, detection systems, communications systems utilizing radio frequency, local and wide-area networks, telephony, and fiber optic cabling, and water quality instrumentation related to turbidity, pH, temperature, conductivity and various monitored water constituents.
Tasks are carried out both in a treatment plant environment and in District distribution facilities throughout the MWD service area. This position will perform other related job duties as required.

The City of Oxnard's Wastewater Division is seeking an Instrumentation & Control Technician to work with team members within the Maintenance group as well as with Operations and Collections staff. Under the direction of the Wastewater Electrical Supervisor, the Instrumentation & Control Technician is responsible for performing maintenance and repair tasks with plant staff and other city employees.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
* Inspect, test, calibrate, and repair wastewater treatment plant instrumentation such as flow meters, pressure sensors, level indicators, pH analyzers, turbidity sensors, and gas detectors.
* Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with electronic, pneumatic, and mechanical instruments.
* Perform preventative maintenance on control systems and instrumentation to ensure operational efficiency and compliance with regulations.
* Install, maintain, and troubleshoot SCADA systems, network hardware, and communication systems for the wastewater treatment facility and lift stations.
* Configure, install, and program Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems to monitor and control treatment processes.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
The Instrumentation & Control Technician is the specialized journey level class responsible for maintaining treatment plant process control and communication equipment in effective and efficient working order.
WORK SCHEDULE
The Wastewater Maintenance work week is Monday through Thursday 6:00 am to 4:30 pm. Depending on the work assignment staff may be assigned to shifts that are outside the standard City work hours. In addition, this position is required to be available to work additional hours in response to peaks in workloads and changes in department needs and perform on-call (standby) duties. This position is governed by the overtime provisions of the federal Fair Labor Standards Act and is eligible for overtime pay.
(This class specification represents only the core areas of responsibilities; specific position assignments will vary depending on the needs of the Department.)
* Performs highly skilled electronic, electronic pneumatic, and instrumentation maintenance and repair and construction duties at a wastewater treatment plant including operation of SCADA system, lift station telemetry, and telephone/communication system.
* Assembles, installs and repairs electronic and instrumentation circuits, transformers, switches, control panels, pneumatic and electronic components of telemetry systems.
* Assist in planning and scheduling preventive maintenance programs; develops and implements emergency situation plans; makes recommendations to improve efficiency and cost effectiveness.
* Maintains inventory of tools, equipment and submit request for materials and supplies; maintains instrument laboratory and the care and maintenance of tools and equipment.

* Responds to questions and concerns from the general public; provides information as is appropriate and resolves complaints.
* Performs the full array of duties assigned to the Instrumentation Technician class including maintaining, in proper working order, all plant process control and communication equipment.
* Perform standby duty on a rotating basis and may be required to work varying hours, overtime, weekends and holidays.
* Coordinate maintenance activities with the operations group.
The following are minimum qualifications necessary for entry into the classification:
EDUCATION:
* High School Diploma or GED
* Journey-level technical training in electronics, instrumentation and controls, and electricity is desired.
EXPERIENCE:
* The equivalent of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical, electronics and instrumentation equipment and circuits found in wastewater treatment plants and related facilities
* Two (2) years of journey-level experience
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:
* Valid California Class C Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record.
* California Water Environment Association (CWEA) Grade I Electrical Instrumentation Technician Certification within eighteen (18) months.

LEGACY ELECTRIC is in need of a PART-TIME licensed Journeyman Electrician to join our team right away.

To be considered for position, candidate MUST have:
Experience in interior/exterior lighting
Bucket Truck experience/signs/exterior lighting
Commercial Service Tech Experience
Current Journeyman License a ++
Clean criminal record
Clean driving record
Self Starter attitude
Experience working with mobile dispatching and communication
Very well organized
Must have experience with Commercial Lighting and Power / Light Residential service calls
Willing to be on call for emergencies on a rotating schedule
Company is a drug-free work place
PART-TIME to start, moving into full-time pretty quickly
