Position Summary The Instructor is responsible for teaching ESL and ABE classes to adult English language learners in both in-person and virtual classroom. This position is also responsible for building his/her curriculum according to Workforce Innovation and Opportunities Act (WIOA), Nevada Department of Education (NDE) and agency guidelines as well as track students' attendance and performance measures. Essential Responsibilities Plan, design and teach ESL and technology curriculum that is engaging to adult English language learners. Create and conduct instruction that includes workforce preparation as outlined in WIOA and adult basic education requirements under NDE. Collect and input data including performance outcomes and attendance records. Maintain accurate and complete student records. Assist and conduct, scheduled and walk-in student registration including intake, orientation and assessment. Monitor students' attendance to ensure post-testings are scheduled and completed in a timely manner. Prioritize work and meet necessary deadlines. Protect all confidential information, company property and electronic data. Comply with safety rules. Other related duties as directed. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge with WIOA and NDE requirements and regulations. Knowledge of teaching and learning strategies for Adult Basic Education skills. Ability to develop curriculum in both remote and onsite learning. Ability to implement effective procedures to expand and meet program outcome requirements. Ability to interpret and apply educational data and respond to trends to meet program standards and outcomes. Participate in all Nevada Department of Education and agency sponsored training events and coaching activities. This may include traveling to Reno or other cities/states. Maintain on-going professional and educational involvement in relevant courses and reading materials. Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer applications. Qualifications: Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Education from an accredited college or university. Certification in at least one of the following: ESL, TESOL, Elementary Education, Secondary Education or a combination of them. Minimum of three years of work experience teaching in a school or academy in the U.S. or in an American or English School overseas, especially with adults who are multi-cultured students. Experience in teaching long distance learning preferred. Must have reliable technology and internet connections to teach remotely. Must have reliable transportation and able to drive to offsite classes and attend meetings throughout the community. Physical Requirements Ability to operate and use office and classroom equipment, especially computer, photocopy machine, inner-active overhead projector. Ability to stand and/or sit continuously while teaching. Ability to work in morning and evening schedule.
