Position Overview

Department Summary
As part of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, we offer undergraduate (i.e., B.A. and B.S. Majors in Psychology) and graduate programs (i.e., PhD in Behavioral Sciences, Clinical Psychology, and Counseling Psychology). Our Clinical and Counseling programs are APA accredited. The UNT Department of Psychology includes ~35 faculty members, over 3,000 undergraduate majors and approximately 110 graduate students.

The instructor will organize all aspects of the learning environment to include delivery of material, cleanliness, safety, and effective lab/lecture. * Create and maintain a safe environment at all times.
* Manage tools assigned to the classroom, lab, and LMS/Canvas environment.

* Ensure an ethical and fair testing environment during periods of testing.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES include the following:
* Special student assistance: Be available to help students needing tutoring. Keep communication with at risk students and update Director of Training and/or Director of Education accordingly.
* Student Issues: Work with students to resolve any concerns they may have, or when necessary, make appropriate referrals for resources, follow up accordingly with any persistence challenges and keep Director of Training and Director of Education updated accordingly.
* Safety Program: Assist Lead Instructor/Director of Training/Education in development and implementation of safety program. Monitor safety program in classroom and laboratory areas. Remind students of safety requirements and request that it be followed. Report to Lead Instructor/Director of Training/Education about any repeated infractions of safety requirements.
* Time commitment: May require work on evenings and weekends in order to meet business needs.
* Curriculum development: Assist with curriculum development as necessary, including topic research, text material acquisition, lesson plan development, test writing, curriculum calls, etc.
* Personnel issues: Refer all personnel issues to the Lead Instructor/Director of Training or Director of Education, such as requests for vacation, changes in scheduling, questions about salary and benefits, etc.
Required Knowledge, Education and Experience:
* High School Diploma or GED and a minimum of 7 years of practical field experience within the past 10 years. Additionally, a minimum of a current industry-recognized certification, and/or a diploma/degree consisting of a minimum of 15 SCH (or equivalent) of postsecondary education in the field to be taught. Combination of experience and education may be acceptable and will be reviewed by Director of Training, Director of Education, or VP of Education
* Must have been a Journeyman lineman for at least 7 years; Lead instructor have 10 years or more experience.
* Must possess proof of completion of a lineman apprenticeship program recognized by the U.S. Department of Labor's Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training Department
* Must have a CDL class A (unrestricted if vehicles are manual)
* Must possess up to date First Aid/CPR/AED certifications
* Must be pole top rescue qualified
* Must be able to operate power tools
* Must be able to Operate a digger Derrick truck to set poles, drill anchors, load transformers, secure loads, pull a pole trailer
* Must have ability to read standards and prints
* Successfully pass DOT physicals and drug testing
* Must pass a background check and a medical screening
