Position Summary: The QC Inspector will be responsible for verifying that fabricated items meet the specifications outlined in project-specific quality control plans and relevant codes. This role involves performing both dimensional and visual inspections to ensure compliance with these requirements. The Inspector must have a strong understanding of industry codes and standards, as well as the manufacturing systems used by SWS. A solid knowledge of inspection techniques and welding processes is also essential for this position. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform assigned duties in accordance with project specifications, applicable codes and standards, and the SME Quality Management System. Review company manuals, procedures, and inspection plans for each project to ensure compliance. Review and interpret shop drawings; assist production personnel with clarification when needed. Verify that fabricated items meet dimensional tolerances and drawing specifications. Perform 100% visual inspection of welds and assemblies, ensuring they meet required accept/reject criteria. Conduct welder qualification tests and ensure welding personnel meet required certifications. Monitor welding processes to ensure compliance with SWS WPS variables and proper use of welding consumables. Perform nondestructive testing (NDT) of welds and materials when qualified or coatings inspections when trained and qualified. Complete detailed and accurate reports in company software, including inspection records, nonconformance reports, and corrective action follow-ups. Perform inspections at subcontractor facilities as required. Maintain inspection and test equipment in proper working order and verify calibration status. Stay current with applicable codes, standards, and industry regulations. Comply with the AWS Code of Ethics for Inspectors. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Work overtime, weekends, or alternate shifts as needed or assigned. Demonstrate strong attention to detail during inspections, drawing reviews, and final product verification. Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent. 1+ years of structural steel fitter experience or related experience justified by the QC Manager AWS CWI or equivalent preferred. NDT or NACE/AMPP certifications and experience are a plus (preferred) Ability to do simple math and/or algebraic formulas as deemed necessary by work type. Must be dependable, reliable, and mature enough to handle equipment in a safe sensible manner and complete work assignments in a timely, professional manner. Willing to work in a shop environment that is loud and not climate controlled, with regular trips between shops as necessary. Able to stand, bend, or kneel for long periods of time and lift up to 50-lbs. Demonstrates willingness to learn.
