Education & Experience Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in optical, mechanical, electrical, or manufacturing engineering, optical-physics, or a related discipline. An understanding of optical and mechanical manufacturing and test processes and the ability to apply engineering theories and concepts are essential. * Minimum of 15 years of related experience in a professional role with Bachelor's degree; or equivalent experience. * 12+ years with Master's or higher degree Very experienced professional with a full understanding in multiple areas of specialization (see list below). Primary Duties & Responsibilities * Assists in design, development, and maintenance of thin film deposition processes on assigned projects; ensures product designs meet customer specifications and technical requirements; develops design documentation, test procedures, Bills of Materials, and manufacturing work instructions with assistance from manufacturing engineering and operations personnel. * Understands and uses precision test equipment to measure optical properties of thin film coatings. * Assist in design and procurement of process tooling used in thin film coating processes, with assistance from manufacturing engineering. * Assists equipment maintenance personnel in developing, documenting and implementing preventative maintenance and equipment repair procedures. * Responsible for red-lining router tasks with assistance from manufacturing engineering. * Resolves technical issues as they arise during coating operations with assistance from manufacturing engineering, quality engineering and operations personnel; identifies root causes of manufacturing problems using analytical techniques; provides clear and concise corrective action reports. * Troubleshoots product quality and production yield problems and leads corrective action teams. * Supports manufacturing operations to ensure products are delivered on time. * Assists Operations personnel in developing, documenting and implementing new equipment and new process maintenance procedures. Education & Experience * BS in engineering or related discipline, preferably in physics, optics, materials science, electrical or mechanical engineering * Minimum of 2 years working experience; familiarity with thin film coating technologies and metrology preferred Skills * Strong verbal and written technical communication skills. * Computer skills in word processing and spreadsheet software, including MS Word, Excel, Access, some CAD (Solidworks preferred), to support requirements for technical reports and analytical studies. * Strong analytical, fault isolation, and problem-solving skills. DOE and SOE experience strongly desired. Strong organizational skills and attention to details required. * Experience with problem analysis and resolution * Demonstrated ability to achieve results independently or working with others * Ability to recommend and implement improvements Working Conditions * Lab environment - wear appropriate cleanroom attire and PPE as required * Ability to stand for hours at a time Safety Requirements All employees are required to follow the site EHS procedures and Coherent Corp. Primary Duties & Responsibilities * Develop a common application platform using bleeding edge opensource software stack * Work with an enterprise applications development team building new applications for internal users and employees Education & Experience * Currently pursing a Bachelors or Master's degree in computer science or related field. * Familiar with open source tools like API gateways, Schedulers, CI/CD, Log analysis, Reporting and dash boarding. * Experience and/or interest in some (not all) of the following: NodeJS, React Native, Angular JS, VueJS, MongoDB, MySQL, Postgres, Docker, Kubernetes, SQL, Java. * Excited about using latest opensource software & frameworks, methodologies & tools. * Not afraid to evaluate/try new methodologies/frameworks/tools to improve development process and/or user experience.
