Urgent Team is looking for an experienced Medical Assistant / X-Ray Tech to join our team in Madison, AL. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience with medical assisting duties/taking X-Rays. Twelve hour shifts and rotating weekends are required for the full-time position. In return, Urgent Team offers a comprehensive benefits package and competitive hourly wages to all full-time team members. PRN opportunities are also available.

The Medical Assistant is responsible for providing basic clinical care to patients in alignment with their medical education.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties and responsibilities generally reflect the expectations of this position but are not intended to be all inclusive. Other duties may be assigned.
• Promptly greets patients when entering waiting area, exam room, and laboratory or x-ray room
• Consistently communicates with patients on wait times; provides direction to the next step in the treatment process
• Provides solutions to patient problems and recognizes and seeks help in emergent/hazardous situations
• Executes follow-up calls with a sense of urgency
• Assist front desk personnel with patient check in/out procedures when necessary
• Obtains and accurately documents patient vital signs and weight, takes brief history, past medical, family and social history current medications, allergies and other pertinent historical information as appropriate
• Assists with patient transfers
• Assists with procedures directly supervised by the provider
• Follows documentation procedures and completes required documentation related to patient visit.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant
• Medical Assistant Certificate or equivalent experience
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
• Medical Assistant Certificate is preferred; ARRT is desirable
• BLS Certification required

Under the supervision of the designated supervisor and assigned physician, performs duties associated with direct patient care and clinical direction to provide patient care given in accordance with the organization standards. Assures completeness of ordered procedures and treatments, assures smooth patient flow, performs general lab work, instructs patients concerning procedures, treatments and needs, and ensures medical orders and referrals are carried out accurately and in a timely manner. Performs registration and scheduling activities per organizational and departmental procedures. Maintains EMR files and performs general front office functions as needed. May perform computerized physician order entry, only if directed by assigned physician. May precept current MA team members or MA Externs as requested by leadership.

AHA Basic Life Support for healthcare workers certification required. Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.

* High school diploma or equivalent required.
* Graduation from a Medical Assistant program required.
* Knowledge of OSHA, CLIA, and ADA required.
* TB validated (to administer or read) or validation obtained within 6 months of hire may be required.
* Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding preferred.
* Knowledge of Business Unit Quality Programs, Meaningful Use and Standard Work Programs and concepts within 6 months of hire.
* Knowledge of standard laboratory and medical procedures.
* Knowledge of insurance plans and third-party payers.
* Ability to master standard clinical competencies per current Clinical policy, Point of Care and Skills Competency checklists.
* Requires basic math and accurate data collection and entry skills.

The Hospital Assistant will transport Emergency Room and In-patients safely to and from designated areas/departments; and would also help all Nursing and Ancillary areas with patient transport needs as well as assist with other patient care duties within their scope.
