In 1980, Paul Sauer, founder of Homewatch CareGivers®, discovered not only a need for in-home healthcare services for people to continue to living safely and happily in their homes, but he also laid the foundation for how such care should be delivered.
In 1994, he began his career in home care working with individuals with developmental disabilities as a caregiver and supervisor.
1996: First Homewatch CareGivers franchise is sold in Boulder, CO
2002: Company begins franchising nationally and Franchise Support Center is established
In 2003, he joined the team at Homewatch CareGivers of Central Ohio as Chief Administrator.
2005: Homewatch CareGivers develops training and care standards for dementia care
2006: Franchisee Leann Reynolds, daughter of Paul Sauer, becomes president to expand company; Franchise Advisory Council (FAC) is established
Joanne has been with the Homewatch CareGivers, LLC Franchise Support Center since 2006.
2012: Homewatch CareGivers partners with Eden Alternative and adopts a person-directed approach to care
2016: Julie Smith is named President and begins new growth strategy
2017: Homewatch CareGivers is acquired by Authority Brands; Julie Smith is named CEO; Care+ launches an innovative management platform that supports our approach to care
Today, the founder’s vision of being the premier provider of home care services continues under the ownership of Authority Brands, LLC. Homewatch CareGivers, LLC CEO Julie Smith led the company to new growth and change in the industry, before departing in 2019.
