ABOUT HOMEMAKER SERVICES
Homemaker services are delivered by home care paraprofessionals who work with families; children and youth affected by trauma, including those impacted by adverse child welfare outcomes; pregnant and parenting adolescents; and families at risk for repeat maltreatment. Homemakers teach parents and guardians to care for children safely in their homes and work with families in crisis to address trauma with positive coping competencies. Families receiving homemaking services typically have children who are aged 12 and under. Homemakers work with the whole family to help parents and guardians apply protective factors in their everyday settings to achieve the best outcomes for the children. Homemakers also work to engage parents in activities designed to improve child functioning across developmental areas and educate parents about child development and strategies to prepare children for educational settings while promoting positive parent-child interactions. Homemaker services are intended to strengthen family life and promote healthy family functioning in order to prevent the placement of children into foster care, whenever possible.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

JOB LIMITATIONS
The homemaker/Companion will not function in any manner viewed as the practice of
nursing according to the New York Nurse Practice Act. Specifically, the homemaker/Companion will not administer medications, take physician's orders or perform procedures
requiring the training, knowledge and skill of a nurse, specifically sterile techniques. The homemaker/Companion provides non-skilled, non-medical functions only.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
1. Bending - Frequent bending related to job function is necessary
2. Lifting - Occasional light lifting is required and candidates should be able to lift up to 40 pounds without straining.
3. Standing - Up to 100% of work time may be spent standing and walking on surfaces that can
range from hardwood floors, carpeting or concrete floors. Stationary standing is
required for periods sufficient to provide administrative functions. Closed toed, secure footwear is required
4. Walking - For entry to and from, as well as mobility through the client's home,
agency's office, hospital and other areas, extensive walking will be required on the
same surfaces as those listed above. Walking with clients for client exercise
programs may also be required.
5. Climbing - Some homes may have multiple levels where stairs need to be utilized but climbing of ladders and step stools is prohibited.

Job Functions:

Assists with plumbing & sheet metal repairs, & alteration projects, where repairs may be overhead or in trenches.
Works both inside and outside, and/or extended hours as operational needs dictate.
Possesses a valid New York State Driver License, Class D or above (other than a motorcycle license); this is verified through the NY State Department of Motor Vehicles. Must pass LENS Check. This enables employee to pick up and deliver tools & equipment used in normal maintenance activities.

Our Ideal Candidate:
A team player who is passionate about animal care, customer service, growing their skillset, and is highly motivated. This full-time position would require 36-40 hours per week days, evenings, weekends and holidays included. This position would be crossed trained to be a Veterinary Assistant. Our teammates are critical to the success of our hospital and to those pet parents who choose to board their beloved pets with us! We are looking for someone who has strong work ethic, is self motivated and punctual. This candidate also wants to work in a team that works hard to ensure all tasks are completed and completed well. Job Duties:
* Providing courteous customer service to pet parents.
* Monitoring pets, includes noting their behaviors such as eating, drinking, and identifying potential problems to the supervisor or Veterinarian.
* Providing enrichment and comfort to boarding pets through, walking, feeding, playtimes, baths and nail trims.
* Maintaining the cleanliness of the hospital and boarding areas which includes but not limited to sweeping, mopping, dusting, scrubbing runs/cages, bathroom facilities spot cleaning as needed.
* Assisting DVMs and LVTs with patients during pre-op, surgery, and post op.
* Stock exam and treatment rooms with supplies, maintaining a sterile environment for surgery.
Job Requirements:
* Ability to lift up to 40 pounds, squatting, reach, standing, and walking throughout the day.
Compensation negotiable based on credentials and experience with a hourly pay range starting at $15.50-16.50/hour. The actual rate offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
