Location Le Meridien Columbus, The Joseph Overview The Guest Service Agent is responsible for providing attentive, courteous and efficient service to all guests during check-in, throughout their stay, and at checkout, while maximizing room revenue and occupancy. Responsibilities * Answer inquires from guests regarding restaurants, transportation, entertainment, etc. * Follow all cash handling and credit policies. * Be aware of all rates, packages and special promotions as listed in the Red Book. * Be familiar with all in-house groups. * Be aware of closed out and restricted dates. * Obtain all necessary information when taking room reservations and follow the rate-quoting scenario. * Be familiar with hospitality terminology. * Have knowledge of emergency procedures and assist as needed. * Handle check-ins and checkouts in a friendly, efficient and courteous manner. * Use proper two-way radio etiquette at all times when communicating with other employees. * Fully comprehend and be able to operate all relevant aspects of the Front Desk computer system. * Be able to perform and complete all tasks and duties on the shift checklist in a timely and efficient manner. * Be able to complete a bucket check, room rate verification report, and housekeeping report. * Balance and prepare individual paperwork for closing of shift according to hotel standards. * Maintain and market promotions and guest programs. * Maintain a clean work area. * Assist guests with safe deposit boxes. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Responds in a professional and courteous manner to arriving, departing and in-house guests by providing accurate and timely information and services. Responds to telephone and in-person inquiries regarding reservations, hotel information and guest concerns. Balance all hotel transactions for the day (Rooms and Food & Beverages), perform “Close Day” procedure and prepare the Property Management System for new business day. Have a thorough working knowledge of the hotel computer system as it pertains to front office operations. Have a complete working knowledge of all related equipment on the front desk. Act as the hotel management representative on a “Grave Yard” shift and be able to make decisions on behalf of the hotel management. Perform all other front office duties professionally to ensure guests satisfaction while staying in our hotel. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE High school diploma or GED required. Previous job related experience in another hotel company is preferred. At least 2 years’ experience as a Front Desk Guest Service Agent. Must have college level mathematical aptitude, know standard cash handling procedure and knowledge of computerized night audit procedure. Must have past experience in dealing directly with the public and acquired general knowledge of basic guest service skills. Must be fluent in oral and written English. Work is generally performed in hotel guest rooms and public areas or in a casino environment with exposure to second hand smoke and high noise levels. Some office work is also required.
