About the role.
We are looking for an Agricultural Intern to join us for 4 months, starting in May 2025. The position is part of the agricultural team and will work in the Burley, ID field locations.
During assignments, the intern will be exposed to grower relations, crop monitoring and intelligence, raw product alignment, cost of production, research and applied science and extension activities, including agronomy and sustainability, and the general operation of a commercial agriculture department. The intern will be exposed to McCain manufacturing operations and will have the opportunity to complete a series of in-house training modules that are part of a broader McCain Agriculture training program.
Upon completing the internship and a diploma or degree in an agriculture field, the intern would be a step ahead of other candidates considered for full-time employment within McCain Foods LTD.
It is essential that the trainee spend time in the internship program to see and experience the local practices. Interaction with agronomy, field, and production staff members will prove invaluable.
It will also allow the intern to see firsthand how McCain's potatoes are produced and processed into finished products for our customers. This program will enable the intern to tailor their final year(s) in their diploma/degree program to enhance their knowledge further.

Accountabilities:
The Intern is the support position at the local office to research and analyze data to improve crop management in the area. Work is planned and conducted under the Agronomist's guidance and with the Department Manager's advice. Projects may include the following:

Track and evaluate potato varieties and their performance in the factory
Assist in developing research needed to determine best agricultural practices
Investigate pest/disease management practices in the local area
Statistical evaluation to identify best practices and data trends

Operate pulp thermoforming equipment in accordance with standardized operating procedures and troubleshoot the pulping process to achieve established quality and production targets

PURPOSE AND RESPONSIBILITY was created in order to • Provide consistent and regular cleaning of the grounds outside the building. The person in this job will maintain the grounds around the building and keep it free of debris and garbage.
• Maintain water buckets, empty garbage, and keep the pumps clean on the gas and diesel island. The person in this job will keep the water buckets filled with the proper solution for cleaning windshields, keep squeegees replaced as necessary in the water buckets, replace paper towels when needed in the towel dispensers, the garbage emptied on both islands and keep all the pumps clean and free of dirt. Report any leaks in the fuel nozzles to the maintenance department. If maintenance people are not present, and the Grounds Keeper does any minor repair to the islands, it needs to be reported to the proper people.
• Wash the gas and diesel island with the hotsy when weather is permitting. The Grounds Keeper shall wash both islands on a regular basis to keep it maintained and clean during warmer weather (above freezing). This part of the job will also include using the hotsy to clean the area in front of the building where parking is and the south side at the truckers entrance. Occasional cleaning in other areas like around the dumpsters may also be necessary. Application of floor dry will be the responsibility of this person when fuel spills occur on the islands.
• Clean and maintain the well house, the generator shed and storage shed. The Grounds Keeper should keep all three sheds free of garbage, dirt and any other unnecessary debris which does not pertain to the job. This also will include the reading of the water meter and posting it on the provided form. Availability of air and water on the side of the well house building and the diesel island should be checked for functionality and reported to maintenance if not working properly.
• Provide snow removal and application of ice melt when necessary. During the winter months, or when necessary, the Grounds Keeper is responsible during his scheduled shift for the application of ice melt in any area where a customer might walk around the building to keep it maintained and safe for traffic.
• Check backup generator and maintain fuel level. Grounds Keeper will check the generator each week to check for proper operation in the event of a power outage and make sure there is enough fuel and oil.
• Check crind paper in the printers on the gas island. As part of the regular routine of the Grounds Keeper, the paper in the printers on the gas island need to be checked daily. This person should check with the fuel desk cashier for a list of dispensers needing paper.
• Maintain pickup used for Grounds Keeper responsibilities. Keep pickup filled with fuel and oil. Report any mechanical problems to the maintenance department.

About the role.
The Production Management Internship offers a unique opportunity to join the McCain production team and gain hands-on experience in production management during the summer of 2025 (May through August). This position will work a 40-hour work week, Monday through Friday, at one of our on-site 8 large-scale food processing plants in the US. Each site specializes in the production of a variety of McCain products. The Production Management Intern will support the plant and contribute to the team's goals and objectives. The Intern is expected to gain a broad understanding of manufacturing processes and tools, potentially including process management, problem-solving, troubleshooting processes and equipment, and managing multiple operations within the production system.
This position will be located at the Burley plant in Burley, ID. The normal schedule is eight hours per day, five days per week, but you may be required to work other shifts and weekend hours as needed. Candidates should have a strong interest in manufacturing and/or business management.
The internship is an opportunity to join a McCain Manufacturing Team and gain valuable manufacturing technical knowledge along with essential leadership experience. The manufacturing interns are provided with cross-functional experience from “farm to fork” within the product life cycle to learn all aspects of the manufacturing process. You will learn about food manufacturing operations, strategic projects and initiatives, internal and external communications, teamwork, work with a purpose, and careers with McCain!
Accountabilities:
Support core functionality of the manufacturing teams while looking for opportunities for improvement.
