A Route Helper assists the Residential Driver with ensuring the route is run efficiently, productively, and safely and in compliance with applicable governmental regulations pertaining to trucking and waste operations. This position will provide courteous, professional service to all customers. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES Wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Know and understand driving hand signals. Assist in examining route sheets, identifying new stops and stops not on route. Assist driver with reading notes from Residential Supervisor or Dispatch and discuss the day's route as needed. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Check specifications of materials loaded or unloaded against information contained on load sheets. Examine freight to determine loading sequences. Assist Warehouse Manager with morning prep inspection of forklifts. Assist Warehouse Manager with inspection of equipment for wear and for conformance of safety specifications. Shares in minor repair work and housekeeping responsibilities for the work area. Assist Warehouse Manager with preparation of morning start up duties. Ensure that trucks are loaded correctly with deliveries and have pads, dollies, and packing materials available for crews.
