Position:
Under supervision, performs semi-skilled and labor-based line work in the maintenance, repair, and installation of communication cables and infrastructure for the City's fiber network. Work may also include installation of copper wiring, Category 5/6 cable, and emerging wireless and microwave technologies.
Position Responsibilities:
Assists cable splicers with job set up, safety, and materials for splicing cable. Assists line crew with all construction-based projects for underground and overhead cable installations
Digs holes and trenches to accommodate pipework as well as christy boxes, junctions, vaults, and manholes and conduit installation
Assists line crew with assembling and installing poles and cross arms, prepares hardware and tools for line workers
Assists with installation of various types of cables including copper, data, category 5 and 6, and fiber optic.

Installs, connects and tests such sanitary plumbing fixtures as urinals, water closets,
water heaters, wash basins, sinks and drinking fountains and such plant plumbing
facilities as HVAC lines, including chill, hot water, and refrigeration, compressed air, fire
sprinkling, various hazardous gas, steam and other pressure systems; disconnect, remove,
replace and connect plant system pumps.
Troubleshoots on plumbing breakdowns by diagnosing trouble, and repairing, replacing
or taking other corrective action. Operates and maintains butane and propane equipment. May be required to operate the automated controls and manufacturing process facilities/equipment.
Lays out and installs plumbing to and from measuring cabinets, testing equipment,
machinery, degreasers, heat treat equipment, etc.
Assist maintenance craftsmen in other fields of specialization when so assigned.
May be required to possess license or certificate as required by law.
Basic Qualifications:
* To set up and operate pipe cutting and threading machines and accessories; to use
plumbers' hand tools and measuring instruments.
* Must have completed approved industry vocational or apprenticeship program with 2 years of directly related experience
* To apply a complete knowledge of plumbing and pipe fitting shop theory, practice and procedure. To read and interpret detail, assembly and installation blueprints. To use
arithmetic and algebra to solve equations involving application of geometric propositions.
* Knowledge of plumbing codes and ordinances.

Job Description
Position:
Under supervision, performs semi-skilled and labor-based line work in the maintenance, repair, and installation of communication cables and infrastructure for the City's fiber network. Work may also include installation of copper wiring, Category 5/6 cable, and emerging wireless and microwave technologies.
Position Responsibilities:
Assists cable splicers with job set up, safety, and materials for splicing cable. Assists line crew with all construction-based projects for underground and overhead cable installations
Digs holes and trenches to accommodate pipework as well as christy boxes, junctions, vaults, and manholes and conduit installation
Assists line crew with assembling and installing poles and cross arms, prepares hardware and tools for line workers
Assists with installation of various types of cables including copper, data, category 5 and 6, and fiber optic.
Work with various types of equipment including bucket trucks, line trucks, pulling packs, and Posi-plus or Hogg-Davis
Work in proximity to other departments infrastructure including confined spaces, vaults, utility holes, and medium and high voltage equipment and cabling

Qualifications
Education:

Operates power blowers, carpet shampoo machines, power washers, tilters, compactors, extractors and fans
Uses other tools and equipment as necessary to insure cleanliness of outdoor campus areas
Moving appliances, furniture, equipment and arranging furniture to match floorplans/layouts
Cleans catch basins and drains on the grounds
Constructs and maintains trash enclosures and other fences, maintains signs, posts signage as needed etc.
May assist Grounds landscape staff in grounds work and tree care operations
Assists in the moving of furniture and equipment and other requested items for the University events.
Clean and extract floods and overflows
Waste management activities as follows:
Picks up and exchanges garbage containers, tow bins, and tilt bins from assigned areas on campus manually or using the appropriate vehicles- forklifts, trucks, carts, trailers, etc.
Collects, transports, and sorts various recycling materials
Sweep, sanitize, and clean near trash/recycling receptacles, within carports, trash rooms, and other areas as assigned
Cleans, disinfects, and maintains all material handling containers, trash equipment, and adjacent areas
Inspect forklifts, pull bins, tractor, and trash compactor daily before operation, performs minor maintenance on wheels, casters, tow links, etc., and reports equipment and work areas
Records activities such as transport pickup schedules, collection quantities, corrective work needed on vehicles or equipment, reports observed repair/maintenance items to Facilities Service Desk, read and understand floor plans for Event set ups, and fills out work orders and timesheets.
Other duties as assigned.

Abilities:

Responsibilities:
Works under direct supervision of the Installer or Lead Installer to install HVAC equipment and accessories in the customer's home
Assists with the installation of heating, air conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration equipment, as well as accessories, in accordance with company requirements and manufacturer specifications
Assists in the installation of ducts and duct fittings
Performs duties so as to deliver of excellent customer service and sustain high levels of customer satisfaction
Assists in the delivery and removal of equipment needed to complete the installation work
Assists the Installer or Lead Installer in ensuring company property, vehicles, and tools are being properly used, maintained, and properly accounted for
As needed or required, completes all paperwork in a neat, accurate, thorough, and timely manner
Represents the company professionally, honestly, and ethically in all business matters and concerns
Responsible with the Installer for keeping installation vehicle clean and neat both inside and outside in keeping with the company's professional image
Performs similar/other duties as needed or assigned

Reports any unsafe acts, conditions and hazards to direct supervisor/manager immediately
Reports any contravention of legislation or company policy, procedure or program to direct supervisor/manager immediately
Corrects substandard acts or conditions within area of control
Uses and maintains appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as prescribed by company program(s) or procedure(s)
Never removes or renders ineffective safety guards, devices, or clothing prescribed to be in place or worn
Complies with the general rules as prescribed by company program(s) procedure(s)
Operates devises or equipment as prescribed by company program(s) or procedure(s)
Participates in any safety initiatives, teams, or committees
Reports all injuries or incidents as prescribed by company program(s) or procedure(s) immediately
Provides input on developing safety initiatives and plans to eliminate exposures that could cause accidents
Does not perform act that may endanger the safety or well-being of others
Does not engage in any pranks, contests, or rough boisterous behavior
Works in compliance with applicable legislative requirement
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED with additional training and 0 to 2 years' experience in HVAC with technical training certification preferred
Must possess all valid licensing or certification as required by federal, state, provincial, or local governmental laws or regulations for the geographical work area
EPA and safety certifications required
Basic knowledge of the fundamentals of the operational functionality of heating, air conditioning, and ventilation equipment as well as related accessories
Mechanical aptitude and the ability to operate, or learn to operate, all necessary tools and equipment
Basic skills in reading wiring diagrams
Effective communication skills to communicate with customer and to provide excellent customer service
Effective and efficient time-management and organizational skills
Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
Available to work flexible hours and on-call shifts as needed
Ability to stand and walk and to climb ladders and attic stairs and to maneuver in attics, basements, and crawl spaces to access HVAC units. Ability to continually climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl
Ability to work in a variety of environmental conditions, including but not limited to the following: hot, cold, outdoor, indoor, dry, humid, slippery surfaces, heights, and congested areas
Ability to safely climb 300lb load capacity rated ladders with a 30lb tool belt
Natural or corrected vision to see and focus for close, distance, peripheral vision with normal depth perception
Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds
