Reporting to the Production Manager, the Shop Helper will be responsible for assisting with prepping, grinding, sanding, and cleaning of sheet metal and steel material. This individual will also assist machine operators and welders with assigned tasks to complete the fabrication of materials. Shift: 3:30pm-12:15am What a typical day looks like: Cut material in preparation for fabrication or processing Chip or grind off excess weld, slag, or spatter, using hand scrapers or power chippers, portable grinders, or arc-cutting equipment Assist machine operators (press brake, punch press, and laser) with loading and unloading items from the machines Assist welders with structural welds by holding materials in place Transfer raw materials, finished products, tools, or equipment between work areas on the production floor using powered equipment (ex. Under the direction of the department Supervisor/Manager, the Helper/Laborer is responsible for putting parts on and off the racks so that they may be prepped and ready for plating process, prepare and package parts, as well as perform general duties within the department. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: • Places parts on and off racks as needed. • Performs bending of aluminum wires on racks to ensure parts are secure and adequately placed. • Tightens bolts and screws with equipment and tools on saddle racks to ensure they are secure. • May assist the Plater in cleaning tanks. • Performs visual inspection of parts to ensure no over plating. • Use air hose to dry parts upon completion of plating cycle. • Prepares and packages parts for shipping. • Adheres to safety regulations. • Performs other duties as assigned.
