Summary:
Pipelayers for Fessler & Bowman will perform a variety of tasks that assist in the completion of projects. It is crucial to have the skills necessary to work as a valued team member for F&B to provide the type of service our customers have come to expect. To perform this position sufficiently, the employee must be able to perform the following duties satisfactorily. The below descriptions represent, but do not limit, the duties expected of this position.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
* Aid in installation of storm drain, water, & utility lines.
* Load & unload tools.
* Hook pipe to machine using pipe choker
* Assist in setting concrete boxes & manholes. Hooking chains to boxes and guiding structures to line & grade.
* Mortar opening around pipe in structures.
* Mortar & brick frame & grates to grade on structures.
* Set frames & grates on structures
* Remove debris from structures & pour concrete inverts.
* Maintain safe work practices & properly wear PPE
* Use cut off saws & measuring tools to cut pipe length.
* Operate walk behind & remote compaction tools
* Pot hole utilities by means of shovels & post hole diggers.
Education, Experience & Qualifications:
* 2+ years of experience with installation of either waterline, storm sewer and/or sanitary sewer.
* Knowledge of elevations, reading and interpreting utility plans.
* Understanding trench safety.
* Experience setting up and using pipe lasers, sight transits and/or roto lasers as well as other required tools needed for the specific work being performed.
* Knowledge of testing procedures for all types of utilities.
* Working in deep excavations at times as well as occasional harsh weather conditions.
* Ability to look and plan ahead to maintain constant production of crew.
* Must be able to understand English.
* Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs.
Travel:
Travel may be required for this position as the employee must be willing to travel to surrounding job sites. F&B will compensate a per diem for travel and overnight stay if applicable.
Work Environment:
As a pipelayer, you will be subject to various work environments. Environments include but are not limited to the following: high/low temperatures, areas close to traffic, loud and frequent noises, confined spaces, heights, and indoor/outdoor settings.
