Abacus Technology is seeking a Maintenance Trades Helper to provide direct support to inside and outside plant technicians at Shaw AFB. This is a full-time position. Responsibilities Working with your hands and directly supporting outside plant technicians and premise technicians. Assist in placing, rearranging and removing poles, conduit, cable lines, open wire, drops, inside wire, and block wire. Perform installation and maintenance on outside plant equipment. Install lines and cables (including fiber, coax, and copper) using hand tools as well as construction equipment to complete the work. Work outside as part of a team performing installation, maintenance and repair on facilities. Pull fiber/copper/coax cable through existing duct package, pull cable through conduit either manually, blowing, or mechanically. Perform work across all divisions (underground, aerial, buried, fiber, copper, coax). Lay cable, conduit and fiber. Unreel, pull and string wire and cable from pole to pole. Dig holes, restore landscaping. Qualifications 1+ years experience working in a similar role. Able to stand, walk, crawl, and work in all environments, on ladders, in attic spaces, on ceilings, in tunnels, on poles, and in trenches to access various installation and construction points as required.
