POSITION SUMMARY Under the direction of the Foreman, the Common Laborer performs entry-level tasks to support the crew's skilled workers. Common Laborers may operate basic equipment such as hand and power tools, air hammers, or earth tampers. Responsibilities include cleaning and preparing job sites, digging trenches, and performing other labor-related tasks as needed to ensure efficient operations. This role does not require prior specialization and offers an opportunity to develop foundational construction skills. YOUR ROLE Assist with general labor tasks, including digging, spreading, and leveling concrete, dirt, and gravel using hand tools. Lift, carry, and hold materials, tools, and supplies for the crew. Signal machinery operators to assist with alignment and placement. Clean tools, equipment, materials, and work areas to maintain a safe environment. Perform basic non-machine tasks, such as removing forms from set concrete. Spread base material for subgrade preparation or concrete pouring. Support pouring and finishing of concrete under supervision. Tie steel/rebar and position pipe sections as directed. Control traffic passing near work zones when needed. Assist with construction and demolition tasks on the job site. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times while on the job site. Perform other duties as assigned.
