We are seeking those passionate about working with youth; those who put the child first and the sport second. The Cavs Academy Coaching Team works daily to INSPIRE PLAY with the youth of our community, allowing them to grow as individuals and develop athletic characteristics, while learning the FUNdamentals of basketball. We do not require basketball experience (playing or coaching) to succeed on our team; so long as you have experience with youth, we want to talk to YOU! Cavs Academy Camps run Monday-Thursday 8:00am-Noon in various gym locations. Working ALL Columbus based camps is not required, but would be preferred. Part time Coaches may select which weeks works best with their schedule. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: * Provide on-court instruction for all Cavs Academy events; including: Cav-a-littles programs for athletes ages 4 - 7, Cavs Academy Camps & Clinics for ages 8-14, and specialized skills trainings. * Assist with community activations, clinics and school events, working with student athletes from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds. * Assist with the set-up, execution and tear-down of Cavs Academy and Cav-a-littles camps and clinics. * Help with greeting athletes and families at check in, providing energy and "hype" as they enter the event. * Provide customer service support to all parents, children and spectators. * Collect on-site feedback from parents and encourage completion of event feedback survey. * Source new youth basketball contacts in the community and work to forge new relationships with facilities and coaches. * Provide feedback on current programs and innovative ideas for new ones. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Must be 18 years or older before June 2025. * Currently attending (or recent graduate of) a 4 year Bachelors Degree from an accredited university preferred, not required. * Experience working with youth is required, coaching experience is preferred. * Basketball experience (playing, coaching, admin, etc) is a plus but not required for all positions. * Experience hosting camps, managing tournaments and other sports-related events is preferred. * Experience with Pre-K through 2nd grade aged children is preferred. * Childcare providers, teachers, camp counselors, etc. are encouraged to apply! * Strong and commanding presence on the court; ability to draw attention from a large group of youth and keep engaged. * Punctual and reliable: must be on time to events as scheduled. * Must have reliable transportation. * Strong communicator: ability to meet athletes where they are and learn to communicate with them as needed as well as ability to communicate with parents. * Emotionally Intelligent: lead with empathy and awareness at all times. * Enthusiastic and Energetic: passion for FUN and ability to maintain for duration of events. * Knowledge of the Game: familiarity with basic basketball skills and terminology. * Versatile Coaching: ability to work with a variety of ages ranging from 4 - 14 years old. Requirements Qualified applicants will have the following minimum requirements: 18 years of age or older Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Comfortable with dogs of all sizes and breeds Ability to lift 35 pounds with no restrictions Maintain a clean and organized workspace as Dogtopia is the cleanest facility any pet parent can choose Maintain regular and punctual attendance Embrace our operational, health, safety, sanitization, and security policies/procedures Energetic and enthusiastic attitude, including the delivery of exceptional service to both our 4-legged and 2-legged clients!
