Primary Responsibilities:
Oversee irrigation cycles and manage pumphouses and irrigation systems.
Handle nutrient needs through dry fertilizers, fertigation, and acid treatments.
Control environmental conditions by adjusting heating and venting systems.
Monitor pest pressures and collaborate with the Plant Healthcare Team.
Maintain and repair physical structures and irrigation systems.
Document actions and crop history for consistency and compliance.
Collaborate with Inventory, Sales, and Operations on plant availability, quality, and order timelines.
Track and report plant readiness and availability with the Inventory team.
Coordinate with Sales to meet customer requirements and adjust growing practices.
Partner with Operations for efficient workflows and timely plant delivery.
Train, lead, and manage section-specific growing staff.
Work with the Physical Plant team to maintain structural integrity of growing areas.
Experience/Qualifications:
3-5 years of experience or training in horticulture or a related agricultural field.
Strong understanding of plant science, with a specific focus on woody shrubs.
Knowledge of irrigation systems, nutrient applications, and environmental control systems.
Skills:
Excellent communication skills for clear and effective team collaboration.
Ability to multitask and manage time efficiently in a dynamic work environment.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Leadership skills with experience in training and managing a team.
Work Environment:
This role is predominantly outdoors (85-95%), requiring adaptability to work in varying weather conditions safely.
Schedule:
Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM - 4:30 PM, with rotational weekend shifts as needed.
Seasonal hours vary, with additional hours (40-50) typically required in spring.

Managing all plant nutrient needs for crops in their section including dry fertilizer, fertigation, and acids
Managing all environmental controls (heating/venting) to give crops optimal conditions to meet sales deadlines
Ensure crops meet deadlines and quality standards
Identify pest pressure and collaborate with Plant Healthcare Team to decide on actions
Maintain the physical structures of the growing area through direct action and collaboration with Physical Plant
Maintain the irrigation system within their section
Document crop history and actions
Creatively address causes of scrap
Lead, train, and manage small team of section growing staff
Experience/Qualifications:
3-5 years' experience/training in horticultural or agricultural field
Knowledge:
Plant/horticultural knowledge
Knowledge of irrigation systems and pumphouses
Abilities:
Strong interpersonal skills - ability to communicate (both written & verbal)
Ability to multi-function
Strong organizational and time management skills
Detail oriented
Team leadership and training
Work Environment: Outdoor 85-95% of time; Be prepared to work in all safe weather conditions caring for the plants.
Work schedule:
M-F 7am-430pm
Weekends on rotational basis, as needed
