The Director - Mechanical Contracting Project Management will play a pivotal leadership role, not only in overseeing complex mechanical contracting projects but also in leading, mentoring, and training a team of project managers. Position Responsibilities
Leadership and Team Development:
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of project managers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
Provide guidance and support to project managers by conducting regular training sessions, workshops, and one-on-one coaching to strengthen their project management skills and leadership abilities.
Develop and implement training programs that help project managers excel in their roles, focusing on areas such as project planning, scheduling, budgeting, client management, and problem-solving.
Create opportunities for junior project managers to take on increasing responsibility and gain exposure to larger, more complex projects.
Ensure that the project management team is equipped with the latest industry knowledge, tools, and best practices to execute projects efficiently and effectively.
Project Oversight And Direction
Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of multiple mechanical contracting projects, ensuring that project managers have the guidance needed to meet deadlines, budgets, and customer expectations.
Review project plans, schedules, and budgets developed by project managers, providing feedback and ensuring alignment with company standards and customer requirements.
Meet monthly with each Project Manager to review monthly WIPs, project forecasts, and project billings.
Lead by example in terms of project execution, offering insights and best practices to the team to optimize project outcomes.
Mentorship And Performance Management
Set clear performance expectations for project managers, regularly evaluating their performance, and providing constructive feedback to drive improvements.
Implement strategies for continuous improvement, ensuring that the team learns from past projects and applies lessons learned to future projects.
Recognize and celebrate the achievements of project managers, motivating them to excel in their roles.
Identify areas for individual development and help project managers set career goals, providing the necessary resources and support to help them achieve those goals.
Customer And Stakeholder Communication
Guide project managers in managing customer relationships, ensuring that all team members understand customer needs, address concerns proactively, and deliver high-quality service.
Facilitate regular customer meetings and updates, coaching project managers on how to communicate project status, issues, and solutions effectively.
Act as a senior point of contact for key customers, ensuring that all projects are aligned with customer expectations and that any issues are addressed promptly.
Risk Management And Problem Solving
Provide oversight and mentorship in identifying potential risks and challenges during project execution, ensuring project managers are equipped to mitigate issues before they arise.
Offer guidance on how to resolve complex technical or logistical challenges and support project managers in navigating project hurdles.
Quality Control And Safety Leadership
Promote a strong safety culture across all projects, ensuring project managers are equipped to enforce and uphold safety protocols on the job site.
Ensure that quality control processes are being followed, guiding project managers in maintaining high standards for mechanical systems and installations.
Continuous Improvement And Best Practices
Drive the implementation of best practices across the project management team, ensuring that all project managers are working efficiently and consistently delivering high-quality results.
Analyze project performance data to identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to optimize project execution and resource utilization.
Partner with peer estimating and engineering teams to drive improvements in estimating and execution.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree in construction management or a related field.
PMP (Project Management Professional), LEED, or other relevant certifications are preferred.
Experience
10+ years of experience in project management, with at least 5 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
Proven experience in leading and mentoring project managers, preferably in the mechanical contracting or construction industry (HVAC, plumbing, refrigeration).
Strong background in leading teams through all phases of project execution, from planning to closeout.
Skills
Exceptional leadership and mentorship abilities with a focus on developing others and fostering team success.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to coach and guide project managers at all levels.
In-depth understanding of project management principles, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource management.

The position is responsible for supporting manufacturing by executing on a preventative maintenance program that is compliant with our ISO 9001 QMS requirements.
The Maintenance Technician works with both internal and external resources to resolve equipment failures to ensure that down time is limited and
