Job Title: Graphics Specialist
Job Summary:
The Graphics Specialist plays a key role in shaping the visual identity of Downtown Washington, Inc. This position is responsible for creating, managing, and organizing all graphic materials for the organization while also assisting with promotional efforts and events. The ideal candidate will be proficient in graphic design and capable of producing high-quality digital and print content to enhance brand visibility and engagement. Additionally, this role will support marketing initiatives, maintain digital platforms, and contribute to event-related creative needs. Other duties may be assigned by the Executive Director as needed.
Job Scope:
Develop, design, and manage all graphic content for Downtown Washington, Inc., including but not limited to event promotions, digital assets, signage, brochures, flyers, newsletters, and social media content.
Ensure all graphic materials align with brand identity and maintain a consistent and professional appearance across all platforms.
Oversee and update the organization's website (built with Squarespace), ensuring it is visually appealing, user-friendly, and up to date.
Create and distribute newsletters via email and print, ensuring engaging and visually appealing layouts.
Manage social media graphics, posts, and campaigns to effectively promote events, programs, and initiatives.
Design and coordinate production of event-related materials, including tickets, banners, posters, and advertisements. (Eventbrite experience preferred but not required).
Assist with event branding, including designing merchandise, promotional materials, and digital assets.
Coordinate with print vendors to produce various materials such as business cards, letterheads, signage, and invitations.
Develop the creation, layout, and design of a yearly tourism magazine and multiple other publications.
Support marketing efforts by designing sponsorship materials and presentations.
11. Answer the phone lines and direct the caller to the correct staff person.
Work closely with the Event Coordinator and Executive Director to ensure cohesive visual communication for all organizational activities.

Desired Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Marketing, or a related field preferred but not required. Equivalent experience in graphic design or marketing is acceptable.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Create and produce clear, exciting and appealing weekly announcements in varied
formats.
Create, update and maintain website/ social graphics to ensure both current and prospective members are well informed in a creative and easy-to-navigate format.
Create with excellence visual elements for the weekly service, special events and seasonal productions as directed by various event coordinators.
Develop and deploy photo backdrops and events print decor
Provide visual elements on an “as needed” basis for Lead Pastor.
Diligent in managing/executing multiple projects.
Execute a variety of projects for various mediums, including:
brochures, billboards, banners, web-friendly graphics, signage, newsletters, postcards, logo, media packaging, signs and more.
Select colors, images, text style, and layout
Review designs for errors before delivery
Work with the project manager to complete projects in a timely manner

The weekly schedule will include 40-45 hours per week and will be the same every week. In addition to your regular weekly hours you will be asked to participate in events that will occasionally include evening or weekend hours, as there are continual seasons where it will be necessary to exceed these minimum hours (i.e., Christmas, Easter, Women's Conference, Strategic Planning, are just some examples and do not encompass all of the extended hours opportunities). Position Overview
As a Design Intern, you'll work alongside our experienced design team to support various creative projects. This is an opportunity to gain real-world experience while contributing to products that strengthen democracy.
Responsibilities
Assist with creating visual assets for digital and print materials
Help maintain brand consistency across various platforms
Participate in brainstorming sessions and design critiques
Research design trends and best practices
Prepare design files for development team handoff
Collaborate with marketing and product teams
Requirements
Currently pursuing a degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or related field
Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
Strong portfolio demonstrating creative skills
Knowledge of design fundamentals including typography, color theory, and layout
Attention to detail and organizational skills
Local to St. Louis area with reliable transportation

A Successful FASTSIGNS Graphic Designer Should
Be able to prioritize what needs to be done and work autonomously.
Work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Be accountable for the expected workload.
Determine the best output method based on the customer's need.
Read, interpret, and allocate appropriate time to a Work Order.
Work with co-workers and customers with file transfers, FTP access, photo library options, online proofs, etc.
Determine size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy, select style and size of type, and arrange layout based upon available space, aesthetic design, and production requirements.
Prepare comprehensive illustrations, sketches, layouts, and copy for print reproduction according to instructions of the client or supervisor.
Inspect jobs for accuracy before sending them to output. Ensure correct material is used for each job and output device settings are accurate.
Maintain customer logo library; convert graphic files.
Image Sourcing: locate photos, understand copyright laws and release/usage requirements, knowledge of resources to buy stock images, work with service bureaus to create output beyond store capability, and understand resolution options and optimal enlargement specifications from image vendors and image originals.
Provide proofs as necessary for customer approval.
Maintain an accurate electronic record of File Storage following brand standards.
Communicate with other employees, Sales/Service members on job requirements, timing, and special needs; Production team on job input and output; Production Manager/Center Manager on inventory needs for computer supplies.
Be accountable for the expected workload.
Able to prioritize what needs to be done and work autonomously.
Perform routine machine maintenance and minor repairs when necessary.
Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and business ethics codes.
Participate in and practice the brand mentality of “Everybody Sells.” Constantly be looking for sales opportunities for the center.

HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL NEED
Minimum Bachelor degree in Graphic Design, Architecture, or related design field required.
Minimum of 10 years of related experience required.
Exceptional design portfolio and strong background in typography is essential as is strong communication skills and the ability to work well collaboratively.
Strong knowledge of signage and wayfinding design and methodology and understanding of all aspects of experiential design required.
Strong client leadership and technical leadership for production team: large, complex projects.
Ability to perform work with a high degree of latitude.
Must be a critical thinker, highly analytical, and possess business acumen.
Proficient in project management.
Attention to detail a must.
Proficiency on Mac in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign required. Skills in Revit and SketchUp a plus.
