Prepress specialists take electronic files and import them into Adobe and other related printing software, making color, text, and digital image corrections as needed. They prep the files to create a digital proof and then ensure the files are staged and delivered to the proper device based on its unique file requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Resize, convert, and correct client art files for desired product
Ensure art is properly prepared for Raster image processing stage by making sure art received is in the proper color space and has the correct amount of bleed.
Be able to do special file preparation to ensure the art will print properly, i.e., adding bleed when necessary or rearranging elements to fit a new size board.
Place files into templates and run script to produce press and proof files.
Make revisions based on client feedback.
Use Adobe Creative Suite to design layouts for customers as needed.
Communicate with Customer Service Representatives and Production to ensure files are set up properly before jobs are sent to the presses.
Additional responsibilities may be required as requested by management.
Skills and Abilities:
General knowledge of digital printing processes and impositions required.
Knowledge of Software Programs: Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop)
Detail oriented. Math and analytical skills required
Must be hardworking, a self-starter and a problem solver
Excellent customer service and communication skills (verbal and written)
Ability to multi-task and maintain a positive attitude under tight deadlines
Strong computer skills on both Mac and PC based platforms
Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends in order to meet business demands
Education/Experience/Certification:
High School Diploma or the equivalent.
Associates or Bachelor's Degree in related field is not required, but a plus.
High level of proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite products, with a focus in Illustrator.
Experience working with Mac computers.
1 to 2 years of recent Graphic Design experience.
Color correction experience a plus but not required.
