Through its unique combination of educational programs, Grand View College in Des Moines, Iowa helps to nurture each student's individual gifts and interests. Affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Grand View College is grounded in such Lutheran values as intellectual growth, and independent thinking and, therefore, do their best to nurture each student's individual ideas. Grand View is a four-year school, but also offers additional learning options. To meet the needs of working adults, for example, Grand View offers an accelerated bachelor's degree program that allows students to earn a degree in a shortened period of time. Another way that Grand View honors the individual is in its individualized major option, which allows students to develop their own course of study, or major. Grand View College also offers less common majors and degrees, such as a bachelor's in Paralegal Studies, only one of a few, and a certificate in Art Therapy. More traditional academic courses may be pursued as well. With close to 40 majors available, students may obtain degrees in education, business, nursing or psychology. Since class sizes remain small, individual expression is also fostered within the classroom, mainly through class discussions. Students from any program may use the career services center to help them define their career path and search for employment. Campus life includes access to student housing, sports teams, and student organizations, including a music and theatre arts group.
