Job Details Title: Health Professions Lab and Simulation Faculty Assistant Announce date: 01/23/2025 Apply by date: Open Until Filled Application status: Accepting Applications Position type: Part-time Salary: $39.00 Per hour Working Hours: Maximum of 15 working hours per week which includes day and evening assignments. Summary: The Health Professions Lab and Simulation Assistant has responsibility for supporting and maintaining skills and simulation lab operations in the Health Profession's Division. This position reports to the Associate Dean of Health Professions and performs duties as directed by the Associate Dean and Health Professions faculty. The Health Professions lab and simulation assistant will perform the following duties: Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Function as a resource person to facilitate student learning. * Evaluate student competency in meeting course outcomes. * Collaborate and communicate with health professions faculty to schedule timely competency evaluation. * Assist health professions (HP) faculty to implement program curriculum in the skills/simulation labs. This includes the use of various equipment, supplies, and computer-based instructional tools and programs. * Work with faculty to create, revise, and update clinical simulation activities in coordination with curriculum objectives and goals. * Collaborate with faculty in coordinating the complementary blending of lab practice, simulation, and clinical experience. * Ensure warranties are reviewed and remain current. * Maintain current knowledge of simulation and lab equipment. * Maintain inventory of equipment, teaching materials, and supplies. * Ensure all laboratory equipment is properly maintained and functioning in relation to manufacturer recommendations. * Assist with quality control of inventoried items. * Maintain organization of skills and simulation labs. * Assess laboratory space to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations. * Prepare equipment, supplies and physical set-up and break-down for laboratory and simulation activities with students. * Schedule and maintains remediation and open-lab hours for nursing students. * Perform any other job-related duties as assigned. Education and/or Experience: Required: * MSN required; * Will consider candidates with a baccalaureate degree in nursing with evidence of a plan for obtaining a graduate degree in nursing within five years or who is enrolled in an MSN program. * Minimum of two (2) years recent experience in clinical nursing practice; * Current Pennsylvania registered nurse licensure * Ability to lift up to 50 pounds without accommodation Preferred: * Medical/Surgical nursing experience * Teaching experience preferred. * Experience working in a skills/simulation lab * Experience working in higher education Other Qualifications: * Self-directed, organized, and follows through on assigned tasks to completion. * Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, laboratory manuals, and governmental regulations (OSHA). * Excellent oral and written communication skills * Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the Health Professions Division team. * Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Communication Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to perform independent research, effectively present information and respond to questions from faculty and students. Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to apply advanced math concepts such as exponents, and logarithms. Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Computer Skills: Must have a working knowledge of basic computer hardware, Microsoft applications software and Internet use.
