Duties
During the course of their careers, Uniformed Division Officers carry out assignments in protection. Duties include:
Providing protection for The White House Complex, The Vice President's Residence, The Main Treasury Building and Annex, and foreign diplomatic missions and embassies in the Washington, D.C. area.
Traveling in support of the Presidential, Vice Presidential, and foreign heads of state/government missions.
Enforcing mandated protective responsibilities as described under Title 18, United States Code, Section 3056A.
Our Uniformed Division's mission is to protect facilities and venues secured for U.S. Secret Service protectees. Throughout its history, the Uniformed Division has accomplished this mission through individuals who embody honor, integrity and a commitment to excellence.
Today, the Uniformed Division has grown both in size and scope of responsibility and is mandated by law to provide physical security for the White House Complex and the vice president's residence at the Naval Observatory. It also provides security for the Treasury Department building and foreign diplomatic missions in Washington, D.C. The Uniformed Division also has specialized teams including Counter Sniper, Emergency Response, K-9, and more.
Requirements
U.S. citizenship is required.
Possess a current valid U.S. driver's license.
Be at least age 20 and less than age 37 at the time you receive a conditional offer of employment, unless you have previous service in a Federal Civilian Law Enforcement position covered by special law enforcement or firefighter retirement provisions, including early or mandatory retirement. Applicants with veteran's preference must receive a conditional offer of employment prior to reaching age 40 to continue in the application process.
Carry and use a firearm. Maintaining firearm proficiency is also mandatory.
Possess uncorrected visual acuity of no worse than 20/100 binocular. Possess corrected visual acuity of 20/20 or better in each eye.
Hearing loss, as measured by an audiometer, must not exceed 25 decibels (A.S.A. or equivalent I.S.O.) in either ear in the 500, 1000, and 2000 Hz ranges. Applicants must be able to hear the whispered voice at 15 feet with each ear without the use of a hearing aid.
Submit to a drug test prior to your appointment and random drug testing while you occupy the position.
Complete 12 weeks of intensive training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Glynco, GA or Artesia, NM and 17 weeks of specialized training at the James J. Rowley Training Center in Laurel, MD.

RESPONSIBILITIESPerform day-to-day system administration on Solaris and Linux servers
Develop and maintain shell scripts to automate system tasks and monitoring
Manage NetApp NAS volumes and file services, including provisioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting
Monitor system performance, availability, and resource utilization
Coordinate with storage and infrastructure teams to manage data storage, backups, and recovery processes
Patch and update OS environments according to organizational security and compliance standards
Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and resolution of system and storage-related issues
Document procedures, configurations, and system changes clearly and accurately
EXPERIENCE REQUIREDStrong hands-on experience with Solaris and Linux system administration
Proficient in Unix/Linux shell scripting (e.g., Bash, KornShell)
Solid experience managing NetApp file services and NAS volume management
Familiarity with storage protocols (NFS, CIFS, iSCSI) and data replication technologies
Knowledge of system security, performance tuning, and backup strategies
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSExperience with Solaris Zones and LDOMs
Familiarity with automation/configuration tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet)
Exposure to cloud-integrated storage environments
