JOB SUMMARY:
Performs special diagnostic and interventional procedures in Cardiac and Radiology areas, including interventional angiographic procedures, interventional diagnostic procedures, and cardiac catheterization procedures.
Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of all equipment components, including patient monitoring devices
Serves as resource to departmental leadership to identify training and educational needs of staff.
Provides clinical leadership and knowledge, assist in evaluation and training of new staff or new skill requirement.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS/PREFERENCES:
Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology or Cardiovascular Technology Program.
Provides evidence of continuing education as required to maintain licensure.
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
Current ARRT, Maryland licensure as Radiologic Tech or RCIS or RCES certification.
BCLS certification
EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum one year of interventional radiology or cardiology experience required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations using addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction and procedure manuals.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Patient-care areas; requires standing for long periods; the noise level is usually moderate with exposure to drills and saws; work pace is generally steady with occasional hectic periods due to patient census, status or emergencies. Subject to exposure to blood-borne pathogens, formaldehyde, latex, dust, fumes, odors, mists, gasses, biological, mechanical, electrical, chemical and other hazardous materials. Complete all shift records: checklist, logbook, payroll, and documentation of safety training
Ensure that incident reports are completed accurately and promptly
Participate in administration of payroll system including scheduling, checking, transmitting and processing
Execute collateral duties as assigned by Marine Management: uniforms, crew training, safety training, recruiting, scheduling crew and routine vessel maintenance
Schedule crew work periods to achieve maximum payroll efficiency
Attend all scheduled meetings

Requirements & Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Must currently possess 100 ton license with a satisfactory record
Minimum of five (5) years of marine experience-preferably to include two (2) years as a captain with an outstanding record
Detailed working knowledge of all ship's systems and their proper maintenance: gangways, diesel, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, water (potable, raw, black, and gray), fire suppression, communications, and navigation
Must be able to operate vessel in accordance with all Coast Guard rules and procedures
Vessel handling and navigation knowledge required
Able to communicate effectively in oral and written form
Able to effectively deal with internal and external guests some of whom will require high levels of patience tact and diplomacy
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
Ability to analyze and solve problems
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities/tasks
Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (especially Word & Excel)

The University of Maryland Medical Center is hiring a Child Life Specialist to join the Child Life Program as an integral team member providing child life services to adolescent patients and children of adult patients in the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center. The R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center at the University of Maryland is dedicated to treating the critically sick and severely injured and employing groundbreaking research and innovative medical procedures with one goal in mind: saving lives. This is a new 1-year donor funded position.
Job Duties:
Assess and support psychosocial needs of adolescent patients admitted to the Shock Trauma Center.
Facilitate developmentally and situationally appropriate therapeutic interventions as an outlet for expression and normalcy with adolescent patients.
Develop resources to support adolescent patient population and children of adult population in high stress situations.
Educate adult medical team about child life services, developmental and psychosocial needs of the adolescent patient, family center care practices to support children of adult patients, and identifying families with anticipatory grief or grief that could benefit from child life services
Meet with involved adults to assess psychosocial needs of children and their families prior to implementation of therapeutic interventions.
Understand and provide age-appropriate explanation of key aspects of disease, anticipatory grief, death, loss and bereavement to children, their parents or other involved adults.
Provide grief and bereavement interventions for children of adult patient, including therapeutic interventions to assess children's understanding and coping, educational sessions for involved adults including explanations of developmentally appropriate/inappropriate coping and common behavioral concerns, as well as information and resources.
Collect metrics to assess impact of child life services in Shock Trauma Center with goal of operationalizing CLS position in Shock Trauma Center.
Qualifications
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Child Life, Child Development, or a related field.
Two (2) years' experience as a Certified Child Life Specialistwith the adolescent population strongly preferred.
Position requires strong knowledge of psychosocial preparation, procedural support, documentation, coping skills, trauma informed care, and emotional safety.
Strong communication skills, prioritization skills, and the ability to collaborate with the interdisciplinary team required
