As a Virtual Nurse, you will utilize your clinical knowledge, critical thinking skills, and the principles of case management and adult education to coordinate, implement and support a plan of care that meets the patient's needs and ensures a seamless, effective, and efficient transition of care. This includes the assessment, planning, implementation, coordination, monitoring, and evaluation of patient plan of care from admission to discharge.
This is an onsite position - you will work from a location within the hospital campus.

The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
This position is NOT Remote and is located at the Sentara Independence office in Virginia Beach, VA.
Orientation will require direct patient care shifts onsite on Intermediate Care and Medical Surgical units at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital to assist with learning the virtual platform and workflow at the bedside.
Full-time position requires 3-12 hour shifts per week, Weekends Only (Fri-Mon)
Nights: 7 pm- 7 am
Leverage the use of technology to enhance patient care in the hospital and provide support to nurses at the bedside. Virtual RNs can support the team at the bedside to alleviate the workload and provide greater satisfaction for both the patients and the nursing staff. They handle administrative tasks that take significant time but don't require hands-on care. This improves workflow while ensuring patients are fully informed about the care they have received.
Virtual nurses are not a replacement for bedside nurses, instead they serve as an additional member of the hospital care team. Bedside nurses and virtual nurses work together to ensure that patients continue to receive the safest and highest quality of care. Patients communicate with virtual nurses via a HIPAA compliant audio-visual device in the hospital room.
Perform nursing duties via video call with this innovative care model from the Virtual Care hub call center such as admissions, discharges, patient teaching, medication reconciliation, and much more.

Summary of Responsibilities
Administers skilled nursing care to patients on an intermittent basis in their place of residence.

Advanced Practice Registered Nurse with either a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP).

Logistics
Full-time hourly position (40 hours/week).
Onsite in our office at located at 8733 Highway 17 Bypass, Myrtle Beach, S.C., 29575 for approximately six months. Once training is complete and production goals and quality checks are met, the position will be work from home. To work from home, you must have high speed internet (not satellite) and a private office in your home.
Work hours: 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday.
Due to TRICARE security access requirements for this position, the selected candidate must be a U.S. citizen, complete a Department of Defense SF85 or SF86 form via the electronic system eAPP, Declaration for Federal Employment Form OF 306 and submit two fingerprint cards. What You Will Do:
May provide any of the following in support of medical claims review and utilization review practices: Performs medical claim reviews and makes a reasonable charge payment determination.
Monitors process's timeliness in accordance with contractor standards.
Performs authorization process, ensuring coverage for appropriate medical services within benefit and medical necessity guidelines.
Utilizes allocated resources to back up review determination.
Reviews interdepartmental requests and medical information in a timely/effective manner in order to complete utilization process.
May conduct/perform high dollar forecasting research and formulate overall patient health summaries with future health prognosis and projected medical costs.
Performs screenings/assessments and determines risk via telephone.
Reviews/determines eligibility, level of benefits, and medical necessity of services and/or reasonableness and necessity of services.
Provides education to members and their families/caregivers.
Reviews first level appeal and ensures utilization or claim review provides thorough documentation of each determination and basis for each.
Conducts research necessary to make thorough/accurate basis for each determination made.
Educates internal/external staff regarding medical reviews, medical terminology, coverage determinations, coding procedures, etc. in accordance with contractor guidelines.
Responds accurately and timely with appropriate documentation to members and providers on all rendered determinations.
Participates in quality control activities in support of the corporate and team-based objectives.
Participates in all required training.
To Qualify for This Position, You Will Need:
Required Licenses and Certificates: Active, unrestricted LPN/LVN licensure from the United States and in the state of hired, OR, active compact multistate unrestricted LPN license as defined by the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC), OR, active, unrestricted LBSW (Licensed Bachelor of Social Work) licensure from the United States and in the state of hire.
Required Education: Graduate of an Accredited School of Licensed Practical Nursing or Licensed Vocational Nursing. Or Bachelor's degree - Social Work.
Required Experience: 2 years clinical experience.
Required Skills and Abilities: Working knowledge of word processing software. Good judgment skills. Demonstrated customer service and organizational skills. Pay Range: $39,288.00 - $52,392.00 per year
Pay: This position is funded through personal fundraising. Accordingly, compensation will vary based on the ability of the individual to secure a donor team to fund the cost of his/her salary. The anticipated salary range for this position on a full-time basis (40 hours/week) is dependent on a variety of factors, including location and cost of living. Department Description: Training (up to 6mos) will occur in person and requires the candidate to live within driving distance to our Colchester, VT office. Candidate must attend training in person during this time. Remote-hybrid opportunity after successful onboarding and orientation.
Our Intake and Referral department is the heart of Home Health & Hospice operations, and we want you on our team! We have an open position for a registered nurse who is interested in supporting an exceptional patient experience, every time. Our registered nurses and team assistants work together to make certain we have all required information and documentation for a complete referral, and coordinate with referring providers and internal directors and managers to support patient access to our services. This position offers an opportunity for a registered nurse to use their clinical experience to evaluate patient eligibility for our services and support patients, their families, community members and referring providers in understanding the breadth and depth of the services we offer.
Schedule is every other Fri/Sat/Sun, and then 3 week days.
Position-Specific Minimum Requirements
3 years worked experience as a Registered Nurse
Live within driving distance to the Colchester, VT office or willingness to relocate
Prior home health experience preferred
On-call: Not required.
