The ideal candidate for this position is passionate about dance education and curious about teaching in a public-school setting. Some previous teaching experience in movement and dance and prior dance training is required. Additional opportunities for professional development on topics such as lesson planning and classroom management will be provided and further curated based on the interests of program participants. The goal of this apprenticeship is to prepare participants to work as independent teaching artists. Participants will receive a stipend of $4,500 for the entire school year paid in five installments. Qualifications: Act as a proper role model for all staff and students both in school and outside the district. Performance Expectations (Essential Functions): Preparing for and executing auditions. Work with and support the HS Band Director and Asst. Band Director to establish routines for selected drills and music. Attend all games, rehearsals and performances including all High School Varsity Football games. Attend and perform in the annual Corn Festival and Memorial Day parades. Polynesian Dancer will be performing choreographed numbers for the Pre-Show, Main Show, and the Post-Show events.
