Job Responsibilities
Evaluate and recommend new processes, programs, equipment and technologies appropriate to Kroger manufacturing, distribution, quality assurance or retailing
Lead internal and external teams as a subject matter expert to develop and improve new and existing product processes while containing costs and maintaining or improving product quality
Oversee activities and projects with both internal manufacturing plants and external contracted manufacturers for food and non-food consumer products; follow regulatory and technological changes that may affect the food industry
Provide leadership to manufacturing operations to troubleshoot product and/or processing problems and find solutions
Work with plant teams in resolving differences in manufacturing processes between multiple operation locations that will improve the quality and costs of products and increase efficiencies
Demonstrate excellence in project planning and execution through best use of resources to shorten the time to project completion
Perform pilot plant development work and conduct plant trials of new products and processes
Reformulate products as prudent to reduce ingredient and manufacturing costs while maintaining and/or improving product quality
Provide technical assistance related to testing techniques and quality assurance procedures for plants
Prepare and maintain material specification documents
Audit plant batching operations and analyze consumer comments; audit products for quality and manage audit follow-up projects to improve quality
Train and mentor Corporate Food Technology Product Development Specialists
Work with Sensory Manager to organize and coordinate consumer panels
Review product label proofs to ensure compliance with all labeling and claim regulations
Travel as required for execution of essential job duties
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in food science, dairy science/bakery science or related field
5+ years progressive technical food industry experience
Any experience in product development or plant production for complex/high-risk product categories
Demonstrated excellence in project planning, problem solving and execution
Excellent oral/written communication skills

The EPA National Student Services Contract has an immediate opening for a full time Cell Culture Lab Specialist position with the Office of Research and Development at the EPA facility in Cincinnati, Ohio.
The Office of Research and Development at the EPA supports high-quality research to improve the scientific basis for decisions on national environmental issues and help EPA achieve its environmental goals. Research is conducted in a broad range of environmental areas by scientists in EPA laboratories and at universities across the country.
What the EPA project is about
Within ORD, the Center for Environmental Measurement & Modeling (CEMM) conducts research to advance EPA's ability to measure and model contaminants in the environment, including research to provide fundamental methods and models needed to implement environmental statutes. The methods and models developed by CEMM are typically applied at the airshed, watershed and ecosystem level. Within CEMM, the Watershed and Ecosystem Characterization Division (WECD) conducts research to advance EPA's ability to characterize the presence, transport, transformation, sources, and impacts of contaminants in watersheds and ecological systems.
Responsibilities
As a team member, you will provide technical laboratory support for research projects focusing on 1) development and testing of various methods for detection of viral indicators and pathogens from wastewater and 2) application of methods in real-world monitoring of viral pathogens in wastewater. The team member will work with other members of the WECD team and will assist the team with cell culture propagation of viruses for various projects within the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law Study (BILS) portfolio. Laboratory support will also assist with molecular support to include nucleic acid extraction/purification, PCR/qPCR/RT-qPCR, and next-generation sequencing library prep and data transfer as needed.

Primary Responsibilities:
Preparation of cell culture lines (mammalian and human)
Preparation of viral media and supplements for analysis of bacteriophage and select viruses
Nucleic acid extraction using a variety of commercial kits or other protocols supplied by the investigators
Analysis of different viral and bacterial targets using (but not limited to) quantitative and real-time PCR (qPCR)
Analysis of culturable viruses (indicators and pathogens) using variety of media formulations to identify and optimize viral cultivability.
Preparation of samples for next-generation sequencing workflow to include nucleic acid quantitation, library prep, and data transfer for analysis.
Secondary Responsibilities:

This PHC Associate Scientist position will provide a key role for the Health Care business and the key missions of ESS. As PHC's Environmental Steward, this person will:
* Provide critical contributions to the global multifunctional Global Healthcare Sustainability Team, providing science-based perspective on our sustainability strategy and action plan;
* Guide and support PHC business categories, new technologies and innovation initiatives;
* Support our sustainability strategy through product and raw material assessments and life cycle assessments;

Job Qualifications
The ideal candidate should have the following qualifications.
* MS in environmental engineering or closely related field (with or without post-graduate experience) with in-depth knowledge in the assessment of environmental fate of chemicals in the environment; other candidates with strong, proven experience will be considered.
* Proven understanding in allied fields such as environmental chemistry and toxicology, fate and exposure, modeling, and analytical chemistry is beneficial.
* We are particularly interested in candidates with chemical and biological laboratory experience with particular focus on evaluating the fate of chemicals in the environment. Experience in aspects of biodegradation testing and sorption analysis would be highly desirable.
* Leadership experience in using environmental science expertise for sophisticated environmental risk assessment of chemicals in an industrial, government, and/or academic setting.
* Strong communication and partnership skills to enable flawless collaboration with customers and collaborators inside and outside the Company.

Key Qualifications
MS and 2 years of experience or BS and 4 years of experience in biochemistry or a related field.

Proficiency in protein characterization techniques including SDS-PAGE, Western blotting, and/ or mass spectrometry.
