    Girl Scouts of Eastern Washington & Northern Idaho is looking for an Assistant Cook for Beautiful Camp Four Echoes, Summer Resident Camp 2025 - Join in on the fun at the lake this summer! Must be 18 years of age or older Girl Scouts of Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho has been serving girls since 1937. Our Resident Camp operates at Camp Four Echoes, a council-owned property of over 200 acres near Worley, ID. Over 500 girls each summer ages 5-17 enjoy programs in STEM, arts and crafts, cooking, drama, swimming, boating, hiking, and other skill-building fun. Each session, girls lead the way by planning their own activities with their camper group. Each week has a theme and campers plan activities and meals related to that theme. Camp Four Echoes, a girl scout camp, is located on the wooded shores of Lake Coeur d'Alene. Six living units house 18-24 girls weekly. Each unit has flush toilets and running water, but no electricity. Meals are provided in a group setting in our central dining hall. We also have a staff lounge for your time off. Kitchen Aide staff live on-site beginning June 3rd to August 15th for the 2025 Camp Season - * Dates subject to change according to position. Approximately $6,500.00 PLUS room & board for the camp season Our Mission; Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Head Cook, the Assistant Cook will be responsible for assisting with meal preparation and other kitchen activities, such as filling food orders for cookouts and trips for girls ages 5-17 and seasonal camp staff. This position is also accountable to assist in providing for the general safety and empowering the personal growth and skill development of the food service staff. The Assistant Cook exhibits enthusiasm and patience while exemplifying the Girl Scout core values of honesty, caring, courage, and character. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES OF POSITION: Attends to safety of any staff assisting in food preparation at all times; follows and instructs kitchen staff on procedures for incidents and emergencies Works with the Health Assistant to make sure allergies are accommodated for in the kitchen Assists in supervising the kitchen staff, primarily kitchen aides Assists in training the kitchen staff in many aspects of running the camp food service program which include food safety, work place safety, proper use of equipment, inventory, meal planning/preparation and delivery, cleaning and food storage, allergies and special diets Assists in fulfilling the weekly menu, including anything needed for special diets or allergies Works to create a positive group culture through team-building and problem-solving activities Attends and supports weekly in-service training, focuses on areas of food safety and develops additional food service skills Models personal responsibilities such as conflict management, positive relationships, following rules, and respecting camp property Follows and implements appropriate behavior management procedures when interacting with all campers Assists Head Cook in any paperwork as needed, food orders, receipts, menus, special diets and allergies, temperature charts, health inspections and evaluations Exhibits punctuality and communication in time management, including daily and weekly breaks Respects and follows the “Camp is for the camper” philosophy by attending to camper and camp needs first Communicates with Head Cook, parents/caregivers, campers and staff regarding special diets, allergies and other food-related needs Represents camp appropriately in the community and with parents by maintaining personal hygiene, following camp dress code, and communicating respectfully with campers, parents and other adults.
