Title: Food Runner Objective: The primary purpose of a Food Runner is to ensure an accurate delivery of food and culinary products to our membership throughout the club. This is a support position to both the front and back of the house operations and acts as a liaison between both areas. The importance of exceptional organization and attention to detail is vital for the success of this position and the restaurant. Responsibilities and Expectations: Prepare kitchen for service Keep kitchen clean and equipment sanitized Ensure kitchen expo area is compliant with health and safety regulations Label and date all items in expo refrigerator Assist with all food and product onto the tray before delivery Ensure orders have the correct plates and condiments Ensure food is served hot and consistent with specifications Ensure seat numbers are clearly marked on plate covers Ensure errors are fixed immediately and effectively Effectively communicate with staff and membership Ensure all side work is done on a daily basis Assist servers with presenting and serving the food item to the member; whenever possible, a food runner must complete a full serving / food presentation to the table Ensure storage areas are neat and organized Clean up spills as they occur Report adverse situations to management Attend pre-service meetings and communicate questions, comments and concerns to other staff members to improve the delivery of food and product Assist members and guests with any requests Coordinate with management throughout the shift Polish and organize silverware Job Knowledge, Core Competencies and Expectations: Team oriented experience Good communication skills both written and oral Fluent in the English language Superb Organization and attention to detail Welcoming and energized personality Good knowledge of food preparation and presentation Physical Requirements, Working Conditions and Other factors: Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature generally is moderate and controlled by club environmental systems; however, must be able to work in extreme temperatures like freezers (-10°F) and outdoors (+110°F), possibly for one hour or more. Position requires walking and standing for long periods of time. Length of time of these tasks may vary from day to day and task to task. Must be able to exert well-paced ability to manoeuvre between functions occurring simultaneously. Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity. Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and subordinates. Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis. Must be able to lift trays of food or food items weighing up to 60 lbs. Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 70 lbs. occasionally. Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch occasionally. Must maintain proper hygiene, following the standard and cleanliness of appearance and uniform. Must have reliable transportation.
