Position Summary:
TFO is seeking a talented and dynamic individual to fill the position of Investment Analyst in our Las Vegas, Nevada office. The ideal candidate will be a finance professional with experience analyzing equity and fixed income investments including investments in private equity/credit and/or venture capital funds. The individual must thrive working in a collaborative environment with a small group of experienced treasury, tax, and legal professionals based primarily in Las Vegas. They will have a “roll-up your sleeves” attitude toward analyzing data and making fact-based assessments and recommendations.
This is a hybrid position that may allow remote work with periodic travel requirements. The main family office is located in Las Vegas, NV with additional offices and personnel located in the Chicago area.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor investments in venture / equity funds and related co-investments
Monitor performance of external investment managers in liquid equity and fixed income positions.
Co-create and manage a reporting framework for investment monitoring which tracks cash flows and returns. This includes capital calls and distributions associated with Limited Partner (LP) commitments in addition to direct investments. The goal is to provide an aggregate view to assess portfolio construction and the risk-return profile.
Assist in the underwriting decisions through quantitative (e.g. modeling IRR/MOIC) and qualitative (e.g. due diligence calls, third-party research, etc.) analysis.
Compile, on quarterly basis, reporting materials for individual companies and, in the aggregate, for the TFO portfolio.
Serve as an Investment Committee observer \providing supplementary data and insights from underwriting and monitoring analyses.
Work closely with legal and tax professionals to ensure all investments are properly documented with organized record keeping.
Required Skills:
Strong technical finance skills in modelling cash flows, IRR's, MOIC, NPV's, cost of capital, etc.
Basic understanding of accounting including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements and the interrelationships related thereto
Strong Excel skills
Self-motivated to think independently, learn new business models, and translate them into financial outputs
Curiosity to explore, investigate and challenge business models and financial projections
Detail and deadline oriented with strong organizational skills
Strong understanding of capital stewardship and risk management
Strong interpersonal, oral and written skills
Experience and Qualifications:
Bachelor degree in Finance or Accounting required, MBA preferred
3 - 5 years experience working in a corporate finance, commercial banking, buy-side or sell-side equity analysis, investment banking, or similar role.
Technology and/or engineering background is desirable but not required
