GENERAL FUNCTION: The Account Officer I is responsible for the administration of a variety of accounts including Agency accounts, IRAs, and Custody accounts, with total book revenue exceeding $1 million. May work with clients' estate plans, which may include the use of multiple accounts and multiple beneficiaries. Target size of account book: 500 Private Bank accounts or 600 Retail accounts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Client Service
* Coordinate services for a portfolio of accounts, consisting of Agency, IRAs, and Custody accounts.
* Retain client base by working with the client's service team to deliver the highest service and client contact standards
* Ensure smooth transitions as clients move between service models
* Support the New Account Team in the preparation and creation of account documents and assist in funding new accounts.
* Communicate with current and prospective clients through written correspondence and telephone calls
* Consult with clients and advisors regarding Required Minimum Distributions on IRA accounts
Account Administration
* Completes annual administrative account reviews and other compliance responsibilities.
* Engages in fiduciary decision-making. Executes decision and manages financial risk in best interest of the clients.
* Process requests for movements of funds internally and externally, following all Bank policies and procedures, as well as coordinating with the Portfolio Manager to ensure that sufficient funds are available to avoid overdrafts (deposits, wire transfers, account-to-account transfers, conversions, sub account openings, gifts, etc.)
* Coordinate annual 1099R and 5498 reporting and annual tax letter preparation and resolve any problems that may arise
* Retains client base by adhering to established client contact standards and ensure the involvement of all team members, as necessary.
* Works with IM&T Fulfillment Center (FC) to open and close accounts, process transactions, and maintenance accounts. Ensures proper documentation requirements are met to ensure compliance with Fifth Third Bank internal policies and procedures regarding client and asset acceptance.
* Works closely with Trust Tax Accountants and outside tax preparers to ensure proper tax reporting.
* Oversees and ensures that all accounts, fees, statements, asset transfers, and internet set-up is complete and accurate.
Sales/New Business
* Acquires additional assets (account additions) from existing clients. Identifies other bank products and services to enhance and deepen existing client relationships, utilizing an IE or WMA, as necessary.
* Interacts with sales force, in coordination with PMs, to ensure a high quality client on-boarding experience into IM&T.
* Communicates with clients and sales force through the entire on-boarding process from start to finish to set and exceed expectations.
Other
* Demonstrates sound decision-making skills, including balancing business risks to Fifth Third Bank with clients' best interests.
