RESEARCH FELLOW - Immunology
Fellow Job In Phoenix, AZ
The Gounari Lab (Dr. Gounari Fotini Bio) explores the molecular processes that govern normal T cell development and the deregulation of these processes in inflammatory diseases and cancer. Our research focuses on the dynamic functions of TCF-1, a context-dependent transcription and epigenetic regulator. TCF-1, a T cell-specific DNA-binding protein, plays multiple stage- and lineage-specific epigenetic roles during T cell development. While TCF-1's critical roles in T cell biology is well established, significant gaps remain in our understanding of how TCF-1 orchestrates these functions across different developmental stages and cellular contexts.
To address these questions, we have developed novel animal models that allow for auxin-inducible, short-term degradation of TCF-1 in vivo. These models enable us to study the molecular and epigenetic changes-such as chromatin accessibility, 3D chromatin structure, gene expression, and developmental progression-that occur when TCF-1 is acutely depleted and later restored. We are now seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our lab and contribute to this exciting area of research.
Key Responsibilities:
Use our auxin-inducible animal models to study the dynamics of TCF-1 degradation and restoration.
Analyze and interpret high-dimensional genomic data.
Collaborate with lab members to develop new experimental strategies and methodologies.
Publish research findings in top-tier journals and present data at scientific conferences.
Interested applicants are required to submit a CV, a brief cover letter describing their research experience and interests and contact information for at least two references.
A Research Fellow at Mayo Clinic is a temporary position intended to provide training and education in research. Individuals will train in the research program of a Mayo Clinic principal investigator. Qualified individuals will demonstrate the potential for research as evidenced by their training and peer-reviewed publications and should become competitive for national research grants. Proof of English proficiency is required for J-1 Short-Term Scholars, Research Scholars, Professors, Specialists, and Student Interns sponsored by Mayo Clinic.
Ph.D. in molecular biology, epigenetics, immunology, or a related field.
Strong expertise in chromatin accessibility assays, 3D chromatin structure analysis, and gene expression profiling (e.g., RNA-seq).
Experience with animal models and/or T cell biology is highly desirable.
Strong problem-solving skills, ability to work independently, and interest in collaborative research.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities
* Use our auxin-inducible animal models to study the dynamics of TCF-1 degradation and restoration.
* Analyze and interpret high-dimensional genomic data.
* Collaborate with lab members to develop new experimental strategies and methodologies.
* Publish research findings in top-tier journals and present data at scientific conferences.
Interested applicants are required to submit a CV, a brief cover letter describing their research experience and interests and contact information for at least two references.
A Research Fellow at Mayo Clinic is a temporary position intended to provide training and education in research. Proof of English proficiency is required for J-1 Short-Term Scholars, Research Scholars, Professors, Specialists, and Student Interns sponsored by Mayo Clinic.
Qualifications
* Ph.D. in molecular biology, epigenetics, immunology, or a related field.
* Strong expertise in chromatin accessibility assays, 3D chromatin structure analysis, and gene expression profiling (e.g., RNA-seq).
* Experience with animal models and/or T cell biology is highly desirable.
* Strong problem-solving skills, ability to work independently, and interest in collaborative research.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills.
