Essential Functions
This position analyzes large-scale phenotypic and genomic data in the context of animal health, genetic enhancement, and animal behavior genomics.
Research responsibilities include:
1) organizing high-dimensional phenotypes into databases, including medical records, pedigree data, longitudinal behavior phenotypes, and performance phenotypes; 2) pedigree and genetic analysis of heritability and level of inbreeding in large extended pedigrees; 3) identifying genomic and epigenomic underpinnings of canine behavioral and performance traits from HiFi long-read whole-genome data and DNA methylation data using family-based association methods; 4) assist the design and analysis of novel SNP/SV genotyping platforms; 5) comparative genomic analysis and pangenome analysis in the phenome-genome context.
Other responsibilities include:
1) analyzing data and preparing scientific manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals; 2) write grant proposals and reports to secure funding and communicate research progress to funding agencies; 3) oversee next-generation sequencing data storage/backup and manage analysis pipelines to ensure accurate and efficient data processing.
Strong communication abilities are essential for collaboration within Dr. Wang's team, with other laboratories, departments within the College of Veterinary Medicine, and partner institutions such as the HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology.

Auburn University Auburn, AL Web Address: ******************************************************************* Description Three graduate research assistantships (Ph.D. (preferred) or M.S.) in aquatic ecology and harmful algal blooms are available in Alan Wilson's lab at Auburn University (**************************** We are an active and productive lab with current research projects that are funded by a variety of grants from USDA ARS, USDA NIFA, NSF Dimensions of Biodiversity, and USGS that leverage our field station that includes hundreds of aquaculture ponds and nearby recreational and drinking water reservoirs. Here, we pursue basic and applied questions associated with understanding the ecological, evolutionary, and limnological mechanisms controlling the structure and function of freshwater plankton communities. Harmful algal blooms are the foci for many of our projects. My students are welcome to participate on existing projects, which include large-scale field experiments and monitoring, lab-based analytical analyses, modeling, and meta-analysis, but are strongly encouraged to develop their own projects in addition to applying for external grants and fellowships, such as the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship program. There are numerous opportunities to work directly with important stakeholders, such as aquaculture farmers, water utilities, and natural resource managers.
I am motivated to maintain a productive, diverse, and inclusive lab and encourage students from under-represented groups to consider joining us. Moreover, lab members are strongly encouraged to develop outreach activities to broaden the impact of their research.
Qualifications: Ideal candidates will be data driven, hard-working, honest, highly self-motivated, team-oriented, and excited about studying freshwater communities. The Program: The Fish Ecology Group at the Ireland Center in Auburn University's School of Fisheries, Aquaculture & Aquatic Sciences is currently involved in research investigating the ecology and management of aquatic organisms in a variety of systems. Recent/ongoing work has included the effects of a peaking hydropower facility on downstream fishes, respirometry and ETS measures of fishes to quantify thermal and DO stress, ecology of coastal fishes in the northern Gulf of Mexico, effects of an introduced planktivore on resident fishes and other aquatic organisms in Alabama reservoirs, adaptations of freshwater fishes to life in estuarine waters, use of lock chambers to pass riverine fishes, management of small impoundments, as well as study of the ongoing study of the effects of lock-and dam structures on riverine fishes. Laboratory and field facilities are outstanding, including expansive pond facilities, large wet labs, controlled environment space, laboratory respirometry capabilities (including both static and swimming respirometry), and recently renovated student office space. Our staff and students work with natural resource agency biologists, travel widely for professional activities, and maintain a team approach to research.
The Postdoctoral Position: We are seeking someone at the postdoctoral level to work with the PIs to provide oversight of the project, helping to coordinate field and lab schedules of graduate students and technicians, and to take the lead on some individual aspects of the project within their particular area of expertise. Ecologists with strong backgrounds in field, laboratory, and/or quantitative approaches (e.g., statistical analyses, behavioral modelling, etc.) are desired. Preparation of manuscripts for publication will be an important aspect of the position, both from this work as well as from the individual's previous work. The salary will be commensurate with the selected individual's experience, and will include benefits, as well as any required technical help, all costs of conducting the research (including travel to field sites, supplies and equipment, etc.), and travel to scientific meetings.

This position reports to Dr. Sushan Ru at Auburn University. Meanwhile, the PDs of the Washington State University Drs. Dorrie Main and Sook Jung and will closely work together with their cohort of other crop curators and outreach specialists. This position requires frequent travel including driving.

This is a one-year limited term appointment; continuation of employment is contingent upon availability of funding and job performance. *

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

The Postdoctoral Fellow will apply critical thinking skills, particularly synthesizing a body of research to identify broader themes and convey these themes through written research reports. Naskou DVM, PhD, Dipl. ACVP. The Naskou group is located at Scott Ritchey Research Center in the College of Veterinary Medicine of Auburn University. Our research is focusing on developing and translating novel biological therapeutics against muscular and neuropathological conditions that are characterized by inflammation. Specifically, our lab is investigating the anti-inflammatory, immunoregulatory and antimicrobial properties of various orthobiologicals including platelet lysate and stem cell derived extracellular vesicles. We further investigating stem cell derived extracellular vesicles as a delivery method for targeted gene therapy, along with the development of novel oligonucleotide-based therapeutics.
The successful applicant will lead a mentored pre-clinical research project with potential for direct clinical translation. The candidate will study the properties and how platelet and stem cell derived biologicals are able to rescue immune responses via cytokine downregulation and transcription and to exert an antimicrobial effect. Moreover, the candidate will evaluate the effect and mechanism of action of specific orthobiologicals against specific immune cells including neutrophils, monocytes and macrophages/microglia. The candidate will also be expected to contribute to the preparation of manuscripts and reports and to present their findings at meetings, lab meetings and national/international symposia. Additionally, the candidate is expected to guide graduate students in experimental troubleshooting, assist in data analysis, manuscript/presentation review and to contribute to lab management responsibilities.

Posting Details Information Job Title Postdoctoral Fellow - Soil Nutrient Cycling and Greenhouse Emissions Posting Number P1717F Information The department of Biosystems Engineering at Auburn University is seeking candidates for a Post- Doctoral Fellow to work both independently and as part of a team to investigate soil nutrient cycling and greenhouse gas emissions from agricultural systems. The successful candidate is expected to be highly organized, personable, enthusiastic, and able to conduct field sampling and laboratory analysis. The candidate should demonstrate the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Responsibilities include the following:
* Design and execute greenhouse gas collection plans from laboratory and field conditions.
* Field measurement of GHG emissions from manure-impacted soils.
* Operate and maintain analytical instruments such as GC and ICP-OES.
* Produce reports and peer-reviewed articles based on the research findings.
* Disseminate research findings through presentations at national and domestic conferences.
* Supervise graduate students and undergraduate student workers.
This is a benefit eligible, non-tenure track position. The appointment is for an initial period of one year with a possibility of continuance up to a maximum of four years depending on performance and funding availability.

Minimum Qualifications
The minimum qualification is an earned Ph.D. from an accredited institution in soil science, environmental science, agriculture, or related field at the time employment begins. The successful candidate should have experience in field research. Additional requirements include experience working in a wet chemistry or analytical laboratory; familiarity with Microsoft Office; a demonstrated ability to collect, organize, and analyze data.
The individual selected for the position must meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States by the start date and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment.
Desired Qualifications
Desired qualifications include experience with field GHG measurement and operation of GC, record of peer-reviewed publications in the area, and excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
