Reporting to two co-directors, this position will have primary responsibility for supporting student engagement and programming for both museums. The University Museums are at an exciting point in their history. As a key component of Colgate's ambitious Middle Campus Plan for Arts, Creativity, and Innovation, our team is currently envisioning and redefining how academic museums fit into the contemporary liberal arts experience and into the cultural fabric of the regional communities into which the campus is embedded. Accountabilities
This position requires you to collaborate with colleagues whose roles also span both museums and their collections. Daily responsibilities include managing student employees across various museum locations and creating social media content for both museums.
This position plays a supporting role in promoting student engagement with the museums, assisting with the coordination of museum programming, and overseeing student employees and ambassadors. The person filling the position will accountable for the following:
* Working closely with museum staff, university departments, and community partners to develop, implement, and oversee the museum's schedule of public programs.
* Engaging in best practices for bringing accessibility and inclusion, as well as decolonizing principles, to all museum programs.
* Recruiting, training, and supervising student employees, gallery attendants, and student docents, including managing student schedules to ensure staffing needs are met during gallery open hours and for all public programs.
* Creating, implementing, and overseeing a comprehensive training program to impart knowledge and skills for student employees and interns.
* Overseeing the Museum Ambassador program.

Postdoctoral Scholar - Centrosome Dysfunction in Human Diseases

The Jao Lab in the Department of Biology in the College of Arts and Sciences at Syracuse University seeks an experienced and highly motivated postdoctoral scholar to join the team. The lab focuses on studying the principles of macromolecular assembly and transport. Current projects include understanding how the cell builds the centrosome, how the intracellular transport along microtubules is regulated, and how centrosome dysfunction leads to human diseases. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in zebrafish genetics, developmental biology, confocal imaging, and/or gene editing. Specifically, the postdoctoral scholar will use these skills to investigate how centrosome defects at the cellular level are translated into developmental anomalies at the organismal level. The individual will also develop new tools to study cellular processes at high spatiotemporal resolution in zebrafish embryos. The postdoctoral scholar will be mentored at developing a research program to provide the foundation for future independent research careers.
Qualifications
Ph.D. in Biology or a related field is required by the time of appointment. Demonstrated potential for excellence in research, evidenced by a solid publication record or significant research accomplishments.
