Details The Department of Radiology & Imaging Sciences has an opening for a Cardiothoracic Imaging fellow. Clinical training for this one year fellowship includes both traditional thoracic radiology (radiography, CT, MRI ) and advanced cardiothoracic imaging with CT and MRI . Exams performed in the Thoracic section include: chest radiographs, chest CT, HRCT , CTA chest, CTA TAVR studies for aortic valve planning, Cardiac MRI , CTA coronary, and CTA cardiac. We use post-processing tools including TeraRecon and CVI42. Fellows will participate in multidisciplinary conferences (oncology, interstitial lung disease ( ILD ), thoracic aorta/vascular) and research projects. Research areas include CT quantitative imaging of the lungs, ultra-low dose CT, cardiac MR, cystic fibrosis, COPD , medical image perception, and applications in machine learning. The Ávila-Lovera lab is interested in understanding the role of stem photosynthesis on physiological performance of desert plants. The main objective of the projecy is to determine the link between stem photosynthesis and drought tolerance by understanding the mechanistic link between stem photosynthesis and both water-use efficiency and hydraulic conductivity. Field work in desert locations in Utah and other nearby states is expected. There is flexibility to drive the project in new and interesting directions. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to mentor undergraduate and graduate students in support of the project. The salary will be $55,000 per year plus access to health benefits. The Behavioral Sleep Medicine Lab in the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine, Division of Public Health at the University of Utah School of Medicine (PI Kelly Baron, PhD, MPH , DBSM ) is accepting applications for a postdoctoral fellow interested in career paths in academic health psychology/behavioral sleep medicine. This is a unique opportunity to train as a scientist-practitioner through engagement in translational research and delivery of behavioral sleep medicine clinical interventions. This position will provide mentorship in the administration of NIH -funded clinical research and community-engaged research studies that focus on the role of sleep and circadian disruption in cardiometabolic disease and aging. Consistent with the objectives of this position, the responsibilities of the postdoctoral fellow will include participation with the study teams in the conduct of ongoing studies, developing manuscripts with existing data from current and past studies. The position may also involve clinical time, if relevant. Fellows may have the opportunity to complete the behavioral sleep medicine clinical training program, one of only a handful of programs accredited by the Society for Behavioral Sleep Medicine. Fellow will deliver non-pharmacologic intervention for sleep disorders such as cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia, interventions for circadian rhythm disorders, positive airway pressure non-adherence, nightmares, and hypersomnia.
