Post Doc Faculty in Chemical Engineering The School of Chemical Engineering is seeking a Post-Doctoral Fellow in the Barrier Materials Lab, within the Petroleum Engineering Program to lead experimental studies in the development and testing of selfsensing wellbore barrier materials for geothermal wellbore construction.
The candidate will be responsible for other duties including managing laboratories and equipment, training graduate and undergraduate students, data analysis/presentation, and the preparation of manuscripts and proposals. Upon performance evaluation at 6 months, the contract can potentially be renewed for additional 12-18 months. This is a multinational geothermal project involving several countries and the US team is represented by LBNL (PI) and OSU (co PI).
Qualifications: The applicant should have a Ph.D. degree in materials science or civil engineering with expertise in cement/concrete and application of graphene for self-sensing capabilities. Additional competences in SEM/FIB-EDS, Xray microscopy, image analysis, chemistry of materials/ micro/nano indentation and ability to use materials characterization tools such as EBSD, EPMA, XRD, AFM, XRF.

Characteristic Duties

Scholars will be assigned to a section of the course and will work closely with the professor to contribute to the students' intellectual and personal growth.
CAS 1573 fulfills the First Year Experience General Education - Core V requirement and is designed to give in-coming freshmen (and transfer students) an orientation to the Humanities as an area of study at OU. Each section will have an enrollment cap of 25 students and will focus on discussion. The course will cover materials from across the Humanities, including texts (poems; essays; stories; and other genres) and videos (documentaries, television shows, and feature films).
Scholars will work on average, approximately 7 hours per week. They are required to spend 3 hrs./wk. attending all meetings of their section. Outside of class-time they will spend approximately 4 hrs./wk. assisting the professor with the course, primarily by:
Commenting on discussion posts
Keeping track of students' work
Completing other course-related tasks the professor assigns
Meeting with students individually or in groups, to help them understand course materials, ideas covered in the course, and course assignments.
The precise schedule of work and tasks to be done will be worked out between the scholar and professor, taking into consideration the needs of the course and the scholar's own academic and personal schedule. Scholars will have required training for these duties during the week before classes begin.
In addition, Scholars will receive training to serve as peer mentors for students in their section. Peer mentoring is a peer-to-peer professional relationship centered around support and guidance. Peer mentorship programs provide timely access to resources, cultivate a sense of community, and create meaningful student leadership development opportunities.

Two positions are available immediately for highly motivated postdoctoral scientists to conduct research focused on neurotropic herpesviruses, bovine herpesvirus 1 (BoHV-1) and herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1). These individuals will conduct research designed to understand the mechanisms by which neurotropic herpesviruses establish, maintain, and reactivate from latency. Studies focused on understanding the mechanism by which a viral protein expressed during latency regulates the latency-reactivation cycle will be conducted. Experience in molecular biology procedures (RT-PCR), cell culture techniques, reporter assay systems, RNA-Seq, chromatin immunoprecipitation assays, and statistical analyses of data are important. Previous experience working with virus infection processes and construction of recombinant viruses is also desirable but not required. University of Tulsa/Helmerich Center for American Research The University of Tulsa's Helmerich Center for American Research at Gilcrease Museum seeks applications for its seventh annual Duane H. King Postdoctoral Fellow. HCAR houses the Gilcrease Library and Archive containing more than 100,000 rare books, manuscripts, maps, photographs, and unpublished works. The collection dates back to the time of Columbus and details the Spanish arrival in the Americas, the New England colonies, the founding of democracy in the United States, and Anglo-Indian contact and conflict in the American West. The center also holds a large Native American collection of manuscripts, photographs, maps, and rare books. Materials housed at the University of Tulsa's McFarlin Library Special Collections on the TU campus complement many of the center's strengths, but offers unique research opportunities in English and American literature. The McFarlin Library Special Collections holds one of the five largest collections in the world on the celebrated Irish writer James Joyce and the life archive of Nobel Laureate Sir V.S. Naipaul. Other significant collections include a wide variety of British, Irish, and American modernist literature, a large and varied collection of materials on World War I, Native American history and culture, and Tulsa race relations. Dr. Liu's research programs focus on host-pathogen interactions during respiratory infections including SARS-CoV-2, influenza virus, and Mycobacterium tuberculosis; pathogenesis of pulmonary diseases such as idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) and chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases (COPD); and stem cell-based therapy and lung tissue engineering.
