Chief Purpose of this position: The liver transplant anesthesia fellowship at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in Richmond, VA is designed to help train the future leaders in liver transplant anesthesiology. This one-year non-ACGME accredited fellowship will meet the UNOS qualifications making candidates eligible to become a Director of Liver Transplant Anesthesia at major U.S. medical centers. Fellows will receive a well-rounded experience through clinical experience, didactic education, scholarly endeavors and professional development. Position Responsibilities: * Teaching: Each fellow will have the opportunity to supervise residents and transplant division CRNA's in a variety of specialty specific cases with the priority focus on liver transplant cases. Other cases may include but are not limited to major hepatobiliary surgery, pancreatectomy with islet cell auto transplant, kidney transplant, multiple solid organ transplant and hepatic resections. * Clinical: The fellow will be consistently involved in pre-transplant candidate assessments for the multi-disciplinary liver transplant selection committee. This position will work closely with transplant hepatology, transfusion medicine and transplant critical care medicine during their fellowship. The Transplant Liver Fellow will spend an average of two days per week as an attending anesthesiologist supervising a mix of general operating room cases. This will allow the fellow to maintain their skills in clinical anesthesiology and earn supplemental income. * Education: Each fellow receives a stipend in professional funds for conferences, books or other approved academic resources. The fellows have dedicated time to work on academic projects and resources provided to help obtain basic certification in perioperative transesophageal echocardiography. Chief Purpose of this Position: We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our dynamic Emergency Medicine team as an EMS Fellow in Emergency Medicine at our VCU Medical Center campus and our community Emergency Departments in New Kent County and Tappahannock, Virginia. The VCU Medical Center Department of Emergency Medicine sees over 100,000 patients per year and serves as a level 1 trauma center and a comprehensive stroke center. The VCU Health New Kent Free Standing Emergency Department and the VCU Health Tappahannock Hospital treat nearly 15,000 and 20,000 patients per year, respectively. The successful candidate will contribute to our mission of providing exceptional patient care with opportunities to engage in innovative research and high-quality education in Emergency Medicine. Position Responsibilities: * Clinical - Provide excellent clinical care by demonstrating proficiency in the evaluation, diagnosis, and management of a wide range of acute medical and traumatic conditions. Provide efficient, high quality patient care that reflects current professional practice norms and skills and is consistent with accepted utilization guidelines. * Education - Participate actively in teaching medical students, residents, providing didactic lectures, bedside teaching, and simulation-based training. * Research - Engage in impactful research and scholarly activities, generating knowledge and contributing to advancements in emergency medicine practice. * Quality/Safety - Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes, participate in quality improvement initiatives, and promote patient safety and satisfaction. * Administrative - Contribute to administrative and leadership responsibilities within the department, fostering a positive work environment and supporting the growth of emergency medicine services. Required Qualifications: * Unrestricted Virginia Medical license or ability to qualify for one * Board certified/board eligible in Emergency Medicine; Fellowship training and/or additional subspecialty certification is desirable * Demonstrated commitment to excellence in clinical care, education, and research within the field of Emergency Medicine * Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
