Assisting faculty members both in the operating room and clinical settings.
Responsible for assisting faculty in teaching residents, medical students, and clinic staff.
Meeting with patients in the clinical setting and working with the clinic staff to obtain the goals and missions of the Department of Neurological Surgery and Oregon Health and Science University.

The mission of the Neuroanesthesiology Fellowship Program is to develop expert clinicians and leaders by providing advanced training in the perioperative management of patients with complex neurologic pathologies in a learning atmosphere that nurtures intellectual curiosity and innovation.
The program is designed to offer 12 months of post-residency clinical subspecialty anesthesia training for adults with intracranial masses, neurovascular pathologies, and spine pathologies in diverse settings including the operating room, MRI hybrid suite, and interventional radiology suite. The fellow will have the opportunity to team up with a cohort of people across multiple disciplines, including neurosurgeons, neurologists, and intraoperative monitoring technicians to provide advanced subspecialty care in a variety of craniotomy approaches including awake craniotomies. Job Summary/Basic Function:
Boise State University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate with a specialization in community-engaged research with rural, agricultural, and/or Tribal Nations to join a transdisciplinary team to develop community-driven future scenarios in Idaho. This research relates to a recently awarded National Science Foundation Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research Infrastructure Improvement program grant (************************ The award, titled “Idaho Community-engaged Resilience for Energy-Water Systems (I-CREWS)”, will facilitate statewide transdisciplinary research to study and address the resilience of energy-water systems in the context of climate, population, and technological changes. Using diverse Idaho communities as study sites, the project integrates local knowledge, governance dynamics, and advanced analytics to evaluate resilience strategies, model current and future energy-water configurations, and develop future scenarios.
We seek applicants whose research interests are focused on some combination of energy-water systems, resilience environmental change, and community engagement, We are interested in candidates from a broad range of disciplines, including geography, sociology, political science, and anthropology. While we are open to a variety of theoretical and methodological approaches, candidates with expertise in and experience working directly with community partners to develop research projects are particularly encouraged to apply. While not necessary, familiarity with GIS, participatory modeling, spatiotemporal visualization techniques, and/or scenario analysis would be beneficial .
The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will work collaboratively with I-CREWS team members at Boise State University, Idaho State University, and the University of Idaho, a group of faculty and students committed to transdisciplinary, team-based, actionable research that addresses real-world environmental challenges.

The post-doctoral research fellow will work within the Boise State Hazard and Climate Resilience Institute (HCRI), housed in our new School of the Environment. The HCRI fosters interdisciplinary and cross-sector collaboration to build connected, thriving, resilient communities. As such, the postdoc will have the opportunity to work with faculty across disciplines and practitioners across sectors. Idaho envisions generating world-class research competitiveness and capacity in collaboration with resilient urban, rural, and tribal communities that can adapt to climate, population, and technological changes impacting E-W interactions. Level Scope:
After earning a Ph.D., the next step in the academic or research career path is often a postdoc. A postdoc is a continuation of a researcher's training that enables them to further their professional development and start to transition from student to independent researcher. Job Summary/Basic Function: Serves in a temporary position that enables an individual with their Ph.D. to continue their training as a researcher and gain skills and experience that will prepare them for their research career in academia or elsewhere. As a postdoc, the position can perform mostly independent research, collaborate on a multi-scholar research initiative, or even may have lead responsibility for discrete components of a larger research project or program, all while under the general direction of a senior or principal researcher.
Department Overview:
The project is a collaboration between Boise State University, Cornell University, George Washington University, and the Centre for Ecology, Development, and Research (CEDAR; Uttarakhand, India). This is a two-year appointment and while the PDRA will be based in Boise, they will be co-mentored by Dr. Ginger Allington (Cornell University) and have the opportunity to work closely with members of the team in New York and India. Project partners will provide expertise on pollinator ecology, institutional emergence, remote sensing, and spatial modeling.
The PDRA position requires deep expertise in agent-based model building and application, reproducible science, and a strong quantitative background - a doctorate in a quantitative subject (e.g.,, geography, computational social science, quantitative ecology, computer science) is a requirement; a track record of multi-disciplinary research and team science. Experience in complementary disciplines (e.g., land systems science, environmental governance, natural resource management) and willingness to participate in international field work is strongly preferred.

The Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine is integral to the healthcare, education and research missions at OHSU. We provide clinical services at OHSU hospitals and collaborate with the VA Portland Health Care System and Hillsboro Medical Center. We specialize in providing excellent perioperative care and anesthesia services to our patients using state-of-the-art technology and pharmacologic tools with an emphasis on patient safety. Pre-operative assessment is facilitated by electronic data collecting systems and is integral to minimizing patient risk. In the operating rooms our anesthesiologists work in care teams with our fellows, residents, and nurse anesthetists as well as independently. Pre- and post-operative care is under the medical supervision of our department. We play a prominent role in the caring for patients in the cardiovascular, neurosciences, and virtual intensive care units. In the ICU our team includes anesthesiology intensivists, critical care fellows, physician assistants/nurse practitioners, and residents. The role of our team in the ICUs is comprehensive and critical to achieving the highest quality outcomes for our patients.
Function/Duties of Position
The mission of the Neuroanesthesiology Fellowship Program is to develop expert clinicians and leaders by providing advanced training in the perioperative management of patients with complex neurologic pathologies in a learning atmosphere that nurtures intellectual curiosity and innovation.
The program is designed to offer 12 months of post-residency clinical subspecialty anesthesia training for adults with intracranial masses, neurovascular pathologies, and spine pathologies in diverse settings including the operating room, MRI hybrid suite, and interventional radiology suite. The fellow will have the opportunity to team up with a cohort of people across multiple disciplines, including neurosurgeons, neurologists, and intraoperative monitoring technicians to provide advanced subspecialty care in a variety of craniotomy approaches including awake craniotomies. The fellow will also have dedicated rotations in the Neurosciences Intensive Care Unit as well as opportunities to supplement their education with electives in neuroradiology, pediatric neuroanesthesia, and intraoperative encephalography.
The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the University's missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service. Appointee shall have a demonstrated competence in patient care.
Teaches junior trainees and support staff in their area of professional expertise. Teaching is done through assigned lectures to be given during the course of the year and through teaching in the course of performing their own job by modeling best practices, mentoring trainees, guiding learning through delegating graduated and focused levels of responsibility.
Provides an outstanding level of professional performance (e.g. quality of clinical care for clinical faculty). Professional performance is to be delivered in a manner that is compliant with the regulations and guidelines of all relevant regulating bodies (e.g. the American Society of Anesthesiologists, JCAHO, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid, OHSU IRB, NIH and all other state, federal, and institutional regulatory guidelines). Job Summary/Basic Function:
Serves in a temporary position that enables an individual with their Ph.D. to continue their training as a researcher and gain skills and experience that will prepare them for their research career in academia or elsewhere. As a postdoc, the position can perform mostly independent research, collaborate on a multi-scholar research initiative, or even may have lead responsibility for discrete components of a larger research project or program, all while under the general direction of a senior or principal researcher.
Department Overview:
The project is a collaboration between Boise State University, Cornell University, George Washington University, and the Centre for Ecology, Development, and Research (CEDAR; Uttarakhand, India). This is a two-year appointment and while the PDRA will be based in Boise, they will be co-mentored by Dr. Ginger Allington (Cornell University) and have the opportunity to work closely with members of the team in New York and India. Project partners will provide expertise on pollinator ecology, institutional emergence, remote sensing, and spatial modeling.
The PDRA position requires deep expertise in agent-based model building and application, reproducible science, and a strong quantitative background - a doctorate in a quantitative subject (e.g.,, geography, computational social science, quantitative ecology, computer science) is a requirement; a track record of multi-disciplinary research and team science. Experience in complementary disciplines (e.g., land systems science, environmental governance, natural resource management) and willingness to participate in international field work is strongly preferred.
Level Scope:
After earning a Ph.D., the next step in the academic or research career path is often a postdoc. A postdoc is a continuation of a researcher's training that enables them to further their professional development and start to transition from student to independent researcher. Postdocs also often take additional leadership or teaching responsibilities in their laboratory or department. These positions are usually two to three years and it is not unusual for a researcher to do more than one postdoc.
