Essential Duties and Responsibilities To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. * Monitors cattle by riding the feedlot pens on horseback to identify sick, injured, or stressed animals; removes the sick or injured cattle from pens to be medically treated. * Assists with the receiving, unloading, sorting, and processing of cattle as assigned by the Feedlot and/or Cattle Manager. * Assists in the medical treatment of sick or injured cattle by following an established medical-treatment plan provided by the Staff Veterinarian. * Moves cattle from pen to pen as instructed by the Cattle Manager and/or Lead Cowboy to rotate cattle according to production schedules. * Trains, shoes, feeds, and medically treats horses to provide healthy, productive animals. * Other duties may be assigned. Mathematical Skills * Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. * Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. Reasoning Ability * Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. * Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
