Position Description: The primary responsibilities of the Elevator Manager will be to lead commercial and operational activities at the grain elevator. Leading and executing all elevator activities in support of the operational business plan while focusing on safety, productivity, communication and profitably. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for directing the weighing of trucks, extracting samples, identifying type and quality of product being delivered, examining samples to determine extent of dirt, burrs, hulls, seeds, and other dockage to determine which bin to unload product into. Forward product samples to local grain office for quality analysis. Review analysis to determine the quality of the sample. Coordinate with merchants as to the most profitable method of binning and blending products. (This will include keeping bin charts updated at all times). Maintain daily records on kinds and grades of grain received, prices paid, amount purchased, and amount in storage. Physically measure grain inventory monthly then reports measurements to management and compare physical to book inventory. Directs workers engaged in unloading, loading, storing, and blending of products for shipment. Oversee the maintenance of facility and equipment. Coordinate with facility personnel, and CGI head of operations on all facility repairs and modifications. If necessary, seek out qualified millwrights to perform necessary maintenance or improvements either on a bid or time and materials basis. Is responsible for facility maintenance. Manage facility in such a manner as to minimize expenses such as labor costs and ordinary operating expenses. Establish an aggressive preventive maintenance program designed to keep machinery and equipment in good operating condition. Establish and direct a rigorous housekeeping program to ensure the facility is clean and in good order at all time both inside and out. Maintain the quality and quantity of all product inventories. Purchase product from local producers at or below prices determined by the merchants. Possess knowledge of all aspects of grading and determining quality of all products. Communicate with merchants on crop conditions, crop quality, producer selling ideas, competition, maintain records of unsold product in your area, etc. Coordinate with the CGI Director of OSHA and Food Safety on safety issues. Responsible for all aspects of Food Safety including, SQF, training, etc. Coordinate with Processing Coordinator on processing, scheduling, and logistics. Direct operations personnel in all facets of the processing schedule, including setting HR shift requirements and other facility and processing schedules to ensure on time shipment of the proper quality product. Coordinate inbound logistics to ensure the proper quality and quantity of product arrives at the facility as needed. Other duties assigned. Qualifications Education/Experience: High School diploma or equivalent experience. Three (3) years of experience in elevator operations and one (1) year of grain buying experience. Sales experience preferred but not required. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Previous experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment preferred. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction, and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Proficient in Microsoft Office, ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, storage, interest, commissions, ratios and conversions quickly and accurately. Good work ethic (team environment, both safe and quality), efficient and willingness to perform all required work with good attendance.
