Family Medicine with Obstetrics- Responsibilities will include duties teaching medical students and residents in clinical training, research and scholarly activity as well as providing direct patient care, with an emphasis in a rural outpatient/ambulatory and inpatient primary care setting as well as administrative tasks typical for a faculty appointment.
The College was established at The University of Alabama in 1972 in response to the Alabama Legislature's mandate to solve the critical need for health care in rural Alabama. Since that time, the College has graduated 495 Family Medicine residents and has educated well over 800 clinical-years medical students. Today, in addition to undergraduate and graduate medical education (a large Family Medicine residency and several fellowships), the College also includes the University Medical Center, the Rural Health Leaders Pipeline, graduate level training, and the Institute for Rural Health Research. The College is dedicated to improving and promoting the health of individuals and communities in Alabama and the region through leadership in medical education and primary care; the provision of high quality, accessible health care services; and scholarship. This position will help the College to foster educational programs that prepare learners in population health principles, and scholarship in medical education and in relevant and innovative community-based participatory research that influences population health and supports partnering to address community health problems.
The College also serves as a branch campus for the University of Alabama School of Medicine, and trains seventy third and fourth year medical students as part of its mission. The College of Community Health Sciences (CCHS) was founded in 1972 by William Willard, MD, author of the "Willard Report" and considered the "Father of Family Medicine," with a mandate to train family physicians for Alabama, particularly its rural areas. Job Responsibilities
The Visiting Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice provides academic instruction to pharmacy students in the PharmD program. Faculty will also be expected to teach in both the campus and online pathways. Additional responsibilities include, but not limited to, clinical practice in a shared model at a practice site, participation in assigned school or university committees, service as a faculty advisor to pharmacy students and oversight of assigned co-curricular student activities, and participation in scholarship. Employment will be on a 3-year (12-month) Visiting Faculty contract, renewable based on performance.
Core responsibilities of this position include:
* Collaboratively develop and enhance pharmacy practice education in the doctor of pharmacy program
* Deliver online course material and/or coordinate team-instructed courses
* Provide didactic instruction to campus pathway within assigned courses in accordance with course syllabi
* Provide clinical pharmacy services in a shared practice site commensurate with training and experience
* Contribute to student orientation and immersion component of online pathway instruction
* Engage in other innovative teaching methods with an emphasis on asynchronous content delivery, demonstrations, and student engagement activities
* Work collaboratively and productively with colleagues in co-instructed courses and in scholarly endeavors
* Participate in the scholarship of discovery, application, integration, or teaching, in areas appropriate to the faculty member's areas of interest
* Contribute to service in the department, school, university, and the discipline
* Mentor students in their academic and professional development
Education / Experience
Qualified applicants will have completed a PharmD, with at least one year of post-graduate residency training in an ASHP- or APhA- accredited residency program and be eligible for licensure as a pharmacists in the state of New York. For faculty practicing in specialized areas, PGY-2 residency training or equivalent experience strongly preferred. Previous academic experience is highly desirable especially in professional program. Preference will be given for candidates with online learning and instruction experience. Successful candidates will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, and a strong desire to contribute to the growth and development of the school in an innovative, thoughtful, and enthusiastic manner.

* Adhere to, uphold, and comply with all established operational policies and procedures as described in operating documentation (Official Catalog, Faculty Guide, Associate Guide).
* Participate in curriculum monitoring and development process by providing feedback on curriculum to the Program Director and/or System-level curriculum team.
* Provide input to Program Director regarding equipment and supplies needed for nursing classroom and lab.
* Participate in preparation for, and ongoing maintenance of records required for national program accreditation.
* Serve as resource/advisor/mentor for nursing students.
* Attend required College functions including graduation and special activities.
* Participate in campus-wide initiatives in support of recruitment, retention, and graduation goal attainment including, but not limited to, monitoring, adjusting (when needed), and assessing classroom and program retention/graduation, and meeting with program advisors on a regular basis to discuss student performance and academic concerns.
* Participate in department committee meetings
* Attend advisory committee meetings
JOB REQUIREMENTS
* Possess a Master's Degree in Nursing
* Valid New York State Nursing License
* Valid American Heart Association BLS CPR certification
* Teaching experience preferred
* Discipline-specific workplace experiences a plus
* Possess and exhibit qualities of professionalism, integrity, self-esteem, self-motivation, and a strong desire to guide students to improve their career prospects.
* Expected to maintain a contemporary skill set in support of active learning and authentic assessment evaluation methodology.
* Exceptional organization and communication skills are required.
Salary:
$50,000 - 70,000 per year.
